11 Jaxon And Joseph

Actually, in this game it's not just about players succeeding in making NPCs submit to them. The opposite can also happen even though there is nothing binding.

A player with the nickname Tree Ghost for example, he has been playing since this game was released and has reached level 30, which is equivalent to Class B Peak.

However, he works for an NPC who is in Class A.

The Tree Ghost is a tall but thin man with rather long hair. His body looked unkempt, indicating that he rarely went out.

Who knows if he took care of his body in the real world. He's obviously an avid gamers, and probably wouldn't mind continuing his life in this game world.

As far as him playing this game, he can be said to be not so lucky. He can level up, but almost all the opportunities he should be able to get fall into the hands of other players.

It was such bad luck that he despaired and then chose to work for an NPC in the hope of getting lucky that way.

The NPC he served was named Joseph, young but very strong.

Joseph was the son of a famous nobleman in the East Wind Kingdom, which ruled this region.

He was the adventurous type, and the kind of NPC who was very interested in the strange changes in this world.

The Ghost Tree whose name was Jaxon told him everything including about the players who came from a world called earth.

Currently, the two were standing on a boat where there were many dead monsters around them.

They were looking at David, Zara, and Yukiko who were just exploring this swamp.

"Young Master, with your perception, what do you think of the two cloaked figures?" Jaxon asked Joseph, looking polite because this NPC would be rude to him if he wasn't polite.

Joseph didn't answer right away, he continued to stare at them.

Apparently because his gaze was too much, they managed to sense his gaze.

Instantly, Zara and Yukiko stared at him.

It was just an ordinary gaze, not even their eyes could be seen. However, it instantly made Joseph's heart ache that he thought that a thousand swords had pierced his heart.

He broke out in a cold sweat and trembled until he fell to his knees.

"T-they're more terrifying than any dragon I've ever seen," he said in a trembling voice.

Jaxon opened his mouth in shock, not expecting that this young man who was always calm and nonchalant would be so frightened.

This frightened him too as he looked at Zara and Yukiko.

Only, he was a player, so the way he looked at David was a little different.

If Joseph respected David for being able to make two terrifying figures follow him, Jaxon was jealous.

'I have to find a way to find NPCs like that,' he thought wistfully.

After a moment of thought, he said to Joseph, "Young Master, how about we go over and say hello to them?"

His words seemed to be instantly approved by Joseph as he nodded.

"Let's go, if I can get their help, I might be able to take over my father's noble status. No, I might be able to take over this kingdom. It doesn't matter even if I become that guy's NPC, it's not excessively binding after all, and I'm sure he won't need me anymore in no time."

He took a long stick to control the boat, controlling it personally as he approached David.

David quickly noticed them, he immediately observed the NPC's class because as a young man, he looked quite conspicuous.

When he saw that he was a Class A NPC, he became somewhat interested.

"Sir, I am Joseph, son of Marquis Robert," said the young man, saluting with a slight bow of his head.

Although he was indeed a bit arrogant, he didn't mind honoring those he thought were worthy.

He glanced at Zara and Yukiko, but dared not look at them again.

"What do you want? Do you also want to be my NPC?" replied David in response, acting nonchalant, something that was actually just pretend but looked very natural because of his mask.

His response was quite surprising to the people who were watching his live stream.

(Is that all he does?) They wondered.

They thought so because the way David spoke made it seem like the two NPCs were asking for it.

Apparently, Joseph nodded lightly.

"I think I'm interested in following a great person like you," he said.

"Good!" David then extended his hand towards him.

He couldn't be said to be unimportant even though David already had two very powerful NPCs.

David thought he was useful for exploring this game world. After all, whether it was Zara or Yukiko, they were existences from 500 years ago. They could almost be considered living in a different world since 500 years was enough to change things.

Joseph quickly grabbed David's hand. Even when the virtual screen appeared between him and David, he immediately pressed the agree button.

DING!

(Congratulations, you have successfully made a Class A NPC into your NPC, you do not get any rewards.)

David received the notification and it didn't surprise him because he already knew.

In this game, you won't get any more rewards when you get an NPC whose class is lower than the NPC you currently have.

The rule also applies to regions such as town, villages, cities, and large cities. When you conquer a town, you won't get a reward when you conquer a village.

"Thank you, sir!" Joseph bowed lower, as if he was pleased.

(Is it really just like this?) The audience wondered again.

This then made several other players in the swamp try the same thing.

They approached the NPCs who were strong enough, asking if they wanted to be their NPC.

The result was naturally a commotion where the NPCs went berserk and beat them up.

The Tree Ghost, Jaxon was not so stupid, he continued to observe silently.

"Sir, is there anything you want to do in this swamp?" Joseph then asked David.

He speculated that there was something great hidden, and that David was looking for it.

In response, David waved his hand.

"Come back to the land, wait for me there," he said.

Joseph became even more curious when he heard that, but he didn't dare to argue.

"Okay!" He nodded, turning the boat around.

As the boat turned, David finally noticed Jaxon.

'A player who chooses to become a follower of an NPC, I'm afraid this guy is full of bad thoughts,' he thought.

As far as this game went, becoming a follower of an NPC was considered a shameful act.

Those who did so tended not to care about reputation and such, they were the kind who had no self-respect. Many players said that they needed to be watched out for.
