Chapter 2: Where am I?

Topaz awoke with a groan. Wondering where he was.

????: "You awake kid?"

Turning his head towards the voice he sees a man with rounded ears atop his head and long shaggy hair surrounding his head. He looks like a lion. Funny.

????: "Hey Captain, the kids awake. You can take him aboard and set off for that island you were talking about."

He turns to Topaz and hands him an envelope and a weird device that looks like a screen.

????: "Here kid, you can't open this, but give both of them to a woman named Summer. She'll take care of everything from there"

Not knowing how to respond to this stranger pushing the items onto him and then leading him to an older man wearing a captain's outfit, he quietly follows after. He can't remember anything specific about himself. He knows about the world he's in and the dangers it has, about the humans and faunus. He knows that he's a faunus, but can't remember which kind. His ears are rounded like the man's earlier, and he has a tail that looks similar to a lion's, but he can't tell for sure.

????: "Hello there son, my name is Captain Ahab, and it looks like you'll be joining me and my crew as we journey to the island of Patch. Let's get you comfortable for this long trip."

Following the captain with a nod, he leads Topaz to a small room with a bed and desk and tells him that he can stay there for the duration of the trip. He places the envelope and weird device on the desk and lies down on the bed. Before he knows it sleep, overtakes him quickly. He wakes up to a light shaking an unknown amount of time later. When he open his eyes, he looks up and sees the captain with a smirk.

Captain Ahab: "Have a nice nap there kid? Well, we've arrived at the island and now I'm going to take you to see Summer. So, get up, grab your things and follow me."

Doing as he says Topaz follows behind him and after a while of walking they arrive at a small wooden cottage. The captain walks up to the door and knocks on it. After a few seconds the door opens revealing a woman that looks familiar to Topaz. He doesn't know why but it hurts his heart seeing her.

Captain Ahab: "Hello again Mrs. Rose, it's a pleasure to see you again. Sorry for bothering you today, but I was asked by someone important to deliver this child to you."

Summer looks Topaz's way gives him a warm smile and introduces herself.

Summer: "Hi there little guy, my name is Summer Rose. How old are you?"

Topaz: "Hello there, my name is Topaz and I can't remember my last name. I am 5 years old. And these are for you."

He hands her the envelope and device and takes a step back. She opens the envelope, reads for a bit and her eyes widen in surprise. She then looks to the device, presses some buttons and a voice plays out from it.

????: "Hey sis------"

Topaz's ears are covered by the captain before too much was said. After a few minutes, the captain lets go of his ears and Summer lunges to him hugging him tightly, sobbing about something he doesn't know of.

Summer: "You can stay with us as long as you need. I'm sure you and my daughters will get along nicely. And you and my daughter Ruby both have silver eyes, so we will have to work on those as well at some point. Come on in, let's get you introduced to everyone else."

The first person he comes across is a man with a scruffy blonde goatee.

Summer: "Alright Topaz, this is my husband Tai Xiao Long, but you can just call him Tai. He may look like a meanie but hes a softie at heart."

Tai: "Summer!? First off, ouch. I am not a meanie. Second, who's the kid?"

Summer: "Tai, this is Topaz. He will be staying with us for a while."

Summer leans towards him and whispers something into his ear. Topaz doesn't know what she said, but whatever it was surprised him. Tai's eyes went wide and he looked at Topaz, then at Summer.

Tai: "You weren't kidding, he looks just like her. If she had ears and a tail that is."

Topaz hears footsteps stomping down the stairs and hears a childish giggle, then a voice called out.

????: "Ruby, get back here and give me my cookies back!"

????: "Nope" The p of nope emphasized more than anything else.

????: "RUBY!"

Tai: "Girls! Stop fighting, quiet down and get over here and introduce yourselves."

Two girls walk around the corner, one with bright blonde hair and lavender eyes, the other with black hair which goes slightly red towards the tip, and silver eyes. They both look at Topaz curiously, but they walk up to him with bright smiles and introduce themselves.

Yellow haired girl: "Hi there! My name is Yang Xiao Long, and I'm a very punny person."

Silver eyed girl: "Um, hi. I'm Ruby Rose, and I like cookies."

Topaz: "Hi Ruby, Yang. My name is Topaz. I hope we can be good friends."

They both smile at his request and they quickly nod their heads in affirmation. Topaz smiles back at them and can't help but laugh from how happy the mood is. Tai and Summer then lead him upstairs and show him into the guest room, saying that this will be his room for as long as he's staying there. He looks around the room, it isn't much, but it's not like he needs much. A simple bed, dresser and small desk are all the room holds for now. Topaz can't remember anything, but he knows in his gut that he needs to get stronger. Strength is the only thing that matters in a world full of danger. But Topaz can feel that Strength matters more to him than most, why it does, he doesn't know, but it does.
