Chapter 8

Lily got up and got out of her room, then she walked out the common room. Lily walked outside. She looked around and grabbed her book bag from her back. She pulled out her book sitting down on the ground and opened the book where she last left off then started to read. Dakota ran onto the grounds, his writing pad in his hands. His wavy blonde hair whipped around in the light breeze. He saw a girl who was reading a book by a tree and sat down next to her. He began writing but didn't say anything.

Lily looked away from her book and looked at the boy. "Hello Sir! How are ya?" The girl asked him as she looked back at her book. She then looked at him again looking at his pad that he was writing on. "Hmm, he's a writer. Pog." She thought to herself. She looked back at her book making it look like she was still reading her book.

Dakota looked up at the girl and smirked, "Hey, I'm good." he said, putting the pad down. The girl was looking down at the book but he could tell she wasn't reading. He ran a hand through his hair and kept watching her.

Lily looked at the boy from the corner of her eyes seeing the boy run his fingers through his hair. "That's very good Sir. Oh and by the way I'm Lily." She looked at the boy, her pale green eyes looking at him. She gave him a warm smile. "You are?" She looked away again, not wanting to look at him for a long time. She quickly looked at her book knowing the boy was still looking at her. She mumbled something to herself making sure the boy didn't hear her.

Dakota heard her mutter something under her breath but couldn't hear her. Dakota smiled, "I'm Dakota, Dakota Castleton. What are you reading?" he asked. He noticed her pale green eyes and how striking they were. He decided to hand her the writing pad, "You should read it, I personally think it's pretty good."

Lily looked at Dakota and smiled at him. "Nice to meet ya, Dakota. I'm reading 'Pretending To Dance'." Lily looked at the pad he gave her. "Are you sure I should?" She asked him as she looked back at him studying him a bit. Trying to find out if he's harmless just in case she gave her name to the next person that would hurt her. Lily looked at his blonde hair, he had a lighter blonde then Lily. "Oh um sorry for looking at you for too long. Lily looked away and looked at her book that was now closed.

Dakota nodded, "That's a good book." he agreed, even though he had never read it before. "It's totally okay if you read it," he said reassuringly. Lily seemed a little shy but so was he, most of the time. He noticed how her eyes went to his writing pad then to his hair.

Lily nodded and looked at the pad then started to read the things that were written on the pad. "Hmm." Lily continued to read it until she was done. "You're really good at writing." Lily told him as she looked at him and gave him the pad back. "It's good I meant. N-not that you're bad at writing." Lily looked away. "Anyway thanks... For letting me read it." Lily looked back at him and smiled brightly.

Dakota beamed, Lily was one of the only people that actually liked his writing, but he didn't want to tell her, "Thanks, I am really glad you liked it." he said quickly, looking away. He wasn't used to positive feedback.

Lily was still looking at the boy. "Do you have any others? Books I mean. I would like to read more of them." Lily looked away and opened her book again and read it.

Dakota nodded and flipped to a new page in his notebook, handing it to her, "This one's not as good, but one of my best, if I do say so myself." he smirked.

Lily giggled a bit. "If you say so." Lily read it. "Well you were wrong about it not being good. It's really great like really." Lily gave him his book back and looked up at the sky with her head leaning on the tree. She sighed and smiled. There weren't any clouds in the sky and Lily could see the sun just a bit since it was hiding behind a few tall trees. Lily loved the outdoors mostly when there's snow on the ground. She closed her eyes for a few minutes.

Dakota nodded and took the notepad back. He watched as Lily leaned back and smiled. He liked seeing her so happy, she was much happier than before. Dakota looked down at his story and began making tweaks and then he asked Lily a question, "Do you have anything I can improve on?" he asked, feeling bad that he interrupted her peace and quiet.

Lily opened her eyes and shook her head. "No It's good. You're a good writer." Lily turned her head and looked at him and smiled. "Wait, were you watching me?" Lily asked him. "Even if you were, I don't mind it at all." Lily mumbled loud enough for him to hear her. "Anyway, Um whatcha writing?" Lily looked back at the sky.

Dakota smiled, "I'm writing about Hogwarts and everything that happens here." Dakota said, putting his writing pad down and leaning back onto the tree, closing his eyes. He loved the peace and quiet, at home with his two siblings, there was never enough.

Lily smiled. "Well you can add that a week before you came here me and my friends flooded the whole school and got a week's detention." Lily giggled at the thought then stopped. "We still hang out.... Sometimes. We all don't really talk. Well two of us..." Lily looked at the boy and smiled.

Dakota nodded and laughed a little too, but didn't open his eyes, "I get that, I lost a good friend a while ago, we don't talk anymore either." he said. He was still sad about him and his friend, they had been amazing friends. He wondered about what Lily had meant about flooding the school but didn't ask. He did take her advice and did add that part in his story though. Then, he closed his eyes once more.

"You want to know what I mean huh? We turned on the water in the kitchen and bathrooms. We then ran outside with our wands and made loud noises with a spell." Lily sighed and looked back up, closing her eyes. "Only if I didn't hurt his girlfriend's brother. He wouldn't be ignoring me at all. Sorry if I'm talking too much. I'll shut up now." Lily stopped talking.

Lily giggled at the boy and opened her eyes. "Everyone came outside and saw the six of us. One of the teachers gave us detention while the headmaster made us clean the whole school. I was fun to hang out with everyone before dumb stuff happened around us. I still have a Love or Host to do the friend who doesn't like me is my assistant and all but he's been avoiding me." Lily looked at the boy. "Maybe you can join one of our pranks next time. But you'll get into trouble so nah. It's your first week here and I don't want you to be like me. Getting detention on your first week. Well we can always sneak out the detention teacher doesn't pay attention to us."

Dakota smirked, "I'd love to join you on your next adventure, I'm thinking of dumping slime on a certain few teachers' heads." he laughed. Honestly, Dakota couldn't wait to prank the school. Lily was super funny and very interesting. He really enjoyed hanging out with her.

Lily got up. "Let's go then. We have a lot of planning to do! You can come to my room. Or I can go to yours. It doesn't matter, let's go!!" Lily tried to hide her excitement but couldn't hide all of it. It felt like she was going to explode with excitement. She put her book in her backpack and held her hand out offering Dakota help.

Dakota grinned at her excitement, he was excited too. He took her hand and stood up, writing pad in hand. He couldn't wait either, this prank would be the greatest ever, even if it got them weeks of detention. He began writing things in his notebook and said, "We can go to my room, it's spacious and will give us lots of room to work.

"Ok, show the way Mr. Castleton." Lily smiled then looked at their hands which were still holding. Lily quickly let go of his hand. "Sorry, anyway we should get going before it gets late and all." Lily looked away blushing a bit. "I should have brought my mask." She thought.

Dakota grinned and led her into the castle, but he quickly stopped at the great hall where dinner was just getting cleaned up, he grabbed a dinner roll and meatball and gave Lily a look, "I'm hungry ok?" he said, throwing the two into his mouth. "We can stop to get your mask."

Dakota shrugged, "I'm a boy, who knows?" he smirked, "Do you want to plan our prank in the great hall since you can't come in my dorm?" he asked, sitting down at a table. He couldn't wait, but he was still very curious on how they would get all of the slime for the prank.

Dakota wrote a few names down on his pad and closed his eyes, he put a finger on a random name and opened his eyes. "It is our well, potions teacher, I don't want to prank her, she's so nice." he sighed, this was going to be harder than he thought. He wrote a bunch more names down and asked Lily to pick.

Lily sat across from Dakota. "The others might hear so we'll have to be quiet enough for only we can hear. Even tho they won't tell." Lily looked at the boy. "So who's the one we're pranking first?" Lily opened her book bag and grabbed a pen and notebook.

Lily looked at the names. "How about we draw their names in a jar or something. It'll help us more." Lily wrote all the names down on a different paper. She then put it in her bag and shook up her bag. "Here!" She handed Dakota the bag. "Get a paper and it'll have the name." Lily smiled.

Dakota reached into the bag and pulled out a name, "It's Professor Hwan, the charms teacher." he smirked. He was excited but he had one question, "Where are we getting all that slime, a spell, the store, where?" he asked, handing her the piece of the paper, a big foolish grin on his face

"We're going to make it. I have the stuff in my room so we can get it later." Lily smiled. "We're going to make it really sticky so it's hard for him to take it off." Lily looked around. "What color would it be?"

Dakota grinned and smoothed his hair back, "We're going to make it a neon green, like classic slime." he said, pulling a green marker out of his pocket and making a mark on the paper, pointing to it.

"Perfect! So I'll come to your room when the others are sleeping so we can plan it. Or you come to mine I might be talking to my brother at night or something." Lily looked at Dakota. "Ya still hungry? If ya are, I have snacks in my bag. Almost a lot of snacks." She pulled out a few snacks and put them on the table.

Dakota nodded and grabbed his pen jotting her words down, "Perfect, do you have dye for the slime?" he asked, looking at her. He was really excited, "I'll go to your room." he said, grabbing a granola bar from the table. I opened it and took a big bite, delicious.

Lily nodded. "Yes I have lots of dyes Mr. Castleton." She giggled then stopped. "I have a lot of things in my room tho. Mostly stuff for streaming or tik tok." She grabbed a bag of cookies and opened them. "Want one." She took one and offered it to Dakota. "It's Oreo thins. Less feeling than the others."

Dakota took a cookie and grinned, "My parents didn't allow that stuff, though I would catch magic on it most of the time if I did." he said, throwing the whole cookie into his wide-open mouth. He gave Lily a sly look, "What things, to be specific?" he asked, taking yet another cookie from the bag.

Lily looked Dakota in the eyes. "If you laugh you're not going back in after that. Got it?" Lily sighed. "Cosplay outfits, bats, plushies, minecraft things, pc, Led lights, a lot of things that I can't name. There's a lot of things so yeah." Lily looked away. "I kinda have a mask that reminds me of home. It's one of my brother's but he gave it to me a few days after I got here. With a book."

Dakota nodded, "That's a spread, all I have in my room is my clothes, my baseball bat, and my school stuff." he smirked, grabbing yet another cookie. He paused, "Is that book you were reading from him?" he asked, biting into the rest of the cookie. Cookie crumbs ran down his shirt.

Lily chuckled. "No It's not that book. He doesn't really like romance novels anyways so." Lily hands Dakota some more cookies. "The book he gave me is secret. Only like five or less people know I have it." Lily gets up and stretches. "Well sir, I should be going. I have to clean my room before you go in there. Meet me there anytime Kk." Lily walked away.

Lily walked to her room and cleaned up a few things. She didn't want her new friend seeing anything embarrassing. Dakota crept up the stairs towards the Ravenclaw commons. Lily told him that she would let him in at midnight to work on their prank. He held a black mask and a bucket of glue in his hands.

Lily grabbed her plastic mask and put it on. She then opened her door showing her blue and green with pink clouds wall, a gaming pc, Xbox, Playstations, a tv on the wall, a Wii, and Her bed was pink and white. She had books beside her bed. In the middle of her floor were lots of dyes. Dakota reached the top of the stairs and checked his watch, midnight. He sat down next to the entrance and took out his mask. He slipped it on and waited for Lily.

Lily looked around seeing no one there. "Ok... Time to do this lilz." She whispered to herself. She walked to the common room door opening it a bit and stuck her head out the room seeing Dakota. Dakota stood up and grinned, holding out the glue, "Didn't know if you needed it." he said, grinning.

Lily giggled. "We're going to need lots of glue. So thanks, come on in." Lily opened the door a bit wider. "Come in little on."

Dakota walked in and looked around, "Is everyone asleep?" he whispered. He handed Lily the glue and followed her to her bedroom. Lily nodded. "Yea they are... well my brother and his friends aren't they're outside doing things I can't do..." Lily walked to her room and waited for Dakota to get in. She put the glue down in the middle of the room. "Please close le door will ya? Thanks."

Dakota closed the door and looked at Lily's pile of dyes, pulling out a bright green, "This one?" he asked, tossing it to her.

Lily caught the dye. "It's perfect Sir. So are ya ready?"

Dakota nodded and grabbed the glue from the ground, "OK, let's make slime." he smirked.

Dakota pulled a stink bomb he had brought from his room and held it out, "Maybe this could help too." he smirked. "What's in the bottle?" he asked, sitting down on her bed. "Oh, just a potion that me and my brother made a few years ago. For a war but I kept this one. It really stinks but it's kinda like a thing that makes people see their fears." Lily looked at Dakota. "It might be bad and all but it only lasts for like I don't know five minutes."

Dakota smirked and walked over to her closet, pulling a sticky, clear jar out. "This will do the trick, pure raw honey, I and my brothers use it in anything and I bet it will help make the slime stickier," he said, placing it down on the ground with the glue.

"Perfect!" Lily said and walked to the middle of the room and sat down. "Ok, should we start now?" Dakota nodded and grabbed a huge bowl from Lily's closet. He threw it on the ground and sat down next to her. He opened the glue and the dye.

Lily grabbed solution and poured a bit in the bowl. "We don't really need a lot. Wait, do you want to listen to some music while we do this?"

Dakota grinned, "Sure, what kind? I like country." he said, pouring in some glue.

Lily got up and walked to her pc. "We'll listen to country. Do ya have any artist ya like listening to?" She asked him as she turned to him.

Dakota shook his head and squirted the dye into the bowl, mixing it around with a spoon he had found, "Well, do you have any?" he asked.

"Um. I listen to a lot of people." Lily played some of the music. "There we go!" Lily walked back to the middle and sat down.

Dakota knew the song and whispered the words to himself, he was a pretty good singer but didn't like to show it. He began adding the honey and cringed as it landed on his hands.

Lily heard the boy singing but didn't say anything. She grabbed the glass bottle and looked at the boy. "Ya might wanna cover ya nose bud. It really reaks like badly." He nodded and kept singing but covered his nose, smirking. Lily opened the bottle and poured it in the bowl. Dakota gagged at the stench but didn't take his hands off his nose.

"I told ya it's reacks" She stuck out her tongue. She was used to it already.

Dakota nodded and quickly mixed it with the plastic spoon, "Shall we start?" he asked.

Lily nodded. "Yes we should." A few minutes passed and the two kids walked to the teachers' dorms. "Go check the room Sar." Lily smirked at Dakota.
