Chapter 1:

" In front of our eyes is the scenery of a battlefield between two armies, orcs, and humans. I can still remember how disgusted I felt when I smelled the corpses, the fleshes, and the intestines emerging from the bodies of the deaths. Fortunately for me on that day that our army, under the command of lord Alexander III had won the battle. If we didn't, I'm sure the orcs would be the ones doing the looting right now.

I'm just a librarian before being called to arms and joining the campaign against the orcish kingdom of Byjorn, which I only heard about from the stories of my mother when I was young. I still remember how the battle was carried out: blood spitted all over the place, my arms become null after thrusting my spears too many times, the roars of the orcs and the whistling sound of arrows and spells. I could have been killed by any orcs that manage to deliver me a blow with their fearful strength. Thanks, the Mother that the Death does not tremble upon me today. And may Her protect my comrades who have fallen!

-"Lieutenant, please come over here!" I heard a voice from one of my comrades who are also looting the field.

I still remember that moment, the moment that changes my life forever. I rush to the location of my comrade, realizing that he is holding something. As I reach closer, I realize that "something" is a baby, no, calling it a baby would be inappropriate; the word "small creature" would be more suitable. It is an orc, not a human; wait, it might not be an orc either. The skin of this small creature is relatively green, but its' figure is that of a baby human, not of a baby orc.

-" A half-orc?" I speak. The surrounding soldiers nod, some look at the creature with curiosity while most of them look at it with disgusting gazes. Half-orc is a term used to describe creatures born between orcs and other races; I have heard several rescued women giving birth to this kind after being captured and raped by orcs; however, it is widely known that these creatures can not live until adulthood.

-'' Do you see any women around here? " I speak out loud. There could be a chance that a hostage who managed to escape when we attack this orc lair was the one giving birth to this creature. However, after searching for a while, the soldiers do not find any traces.

-" What should we do with this creature, lieutenant? " One of my subordinates asks me. I know that killing a baby is against the teaching of the Mother; however, we can not let it live, orcs are evil creatures, and I will be accused by the Church if I decide to save this one. So the best solution will be:

-" Just put it back to where it belongs, the Mother will decide this creature's fate." The soldier holding the baby half-orc throws it into the ground with a relatively strong force, making the baby cry out loud. I turn my back and order my men to continue to loot the battlefield. We must finish our tasks before sunset or the lord will be angered.

If I knew who that small creature will grow to be, I would have come back in time to beg myself to snap that creature's neck. I would rather live under shame for not obeying the teachings of the Mother rather than letting a demon like it walk on this continent.

I could have killed the most fearsome demon lord of ages, Abutai the Conqueror.

*******************************

Let's come back to our main character, the half-orc baby.

The rain continues to pour down on the destroyed orc lairs, where hundreds of orkish bodies are piled up. The man's army has long since abandoned the place, leaving it for wild animals to scavenge. The half-orc baby has stopped crying, perhaps realizing that crying wouldn't help it survive. With a quiet determination, the baby flips over and crawls toward the body of an orc. The child is the size of a three-year-old human baby, with sparkling blue and green eyes that shine like luxurious jewels in the fading light of day. The baby reaches the body of an orc, exposing its fangs and sinking its teeth deep into the flesh to reap blood, mimicking the behavior of the orcs. After satisfying its thirst, the baby starts to reap the orc's meat and satiate its hunger, just like what his orkish kind often do to their fallen enemies.

This routine continues day after day until the half-orc grows to the size of a seven-year-old human, covered in blood, flesh, and dirt, with messy and dirty hair. One day when he is sitting on a body enjoying his meal, the half-orc is surrounded by a group of goblins armed with rusty spears and shields. These creatures are small, with green skin and pointy ears, and are born and raised in the shadowy corners of the world. Like orcs, they enjoy the flesh of their enemies but prefer to ambush their foes rather than face them head-on.

The half-orc, outnumbered ten to one, jumps off the body it was sitting on and picks up a large battleaxe, a spoil he gains from the battlefield. Although not skilled in using it, the half-orc has learned to wield the weapon efficiently enough to cut bodies into small parts, which are easier to eat.

The goblins charge at the half-orc with murderous intent, but the half-orc reveals its sharp fangs and raises its battleaxe, emitting a wild cry. The nearest goblin from the half-orc is cut in half while other goblins are struck down one by one as the half-orc kicks, punches, and slashes with any wild move it can muster from the moment it was born. A goblin manages to strike the half-orc from behind but the natural thick orkish skin prevents our main character from suffering any detrimental wounds.

-WARGHH" The half-orc child cries out before turning his back and cutting the goblin who has just attacked him in half. Red aura amits from the child's body and his eyeballs of him turn red.

''Berserk'' is one of the orkish natural intent, where their emotions go out of control and just attack any living things around them. In this stage, every orc loses his mind but his physical strength is greatly enhanced; however, they will start to lose their stamina at a very fast pace until it runs out and they're dead. Mature orcs will know how to control themselves in this stage so that they won't hurt their allies and can get out of this stage before crossing the line between the living and the dead.

He continues to attack the surrounding goblins with everything he has. Kicking, punching, slashing, using any wild move embroiled in his veins from the moment he was born. The goblins are struck down one after another with their bones broken or brutally cut in half. Within dozens of seconds, the only goblin left standing is the one who wears iron armor. The half-orc charges toward it raise his axe and deliver a slash from above. The goblin raises his shield to block the slash, which results in a deep cut in its' arm; however, the goblin manages to lock down the half-orc's movement, even for just a few seconds. Then, the goblin thrust his sword, which pierces through the stomach of our main character.

A smile appears on the face of the goblin as if it had won. The half-orc suddenly hugs the goblin tightly with both of his arms, letting go of the ax. Painful cries come out from the goblin along with the sounds of bones being crushed. Blood comes out of the poor creature's eyes, ears, and mouth. Then, everything falls silent.

Dropping the goblin into the ground, the half-orc's eyes become normal colors. His breath becomes heavier and heavier and his body trembles from an immense amount of pain. Without guidance, our child has known to remove himself from the ''Berserk'' stage naturally in order to save himself on the verge of death.

The half-orc falls into the dirt; the wounds he sustains and the energy drawn out in the process are too much for him to bear. He has fainted, if he doesn't wake up he will soon become easy prey for vultures.

After a few hours, a vulture flew from the sky and stand on the half-orc's head. Before it manages to do anything to harm the boy, a large shadow covers its head. The vulture looks up and finds a large orc whose height is close to 2.5 meters. The vulture can rarely do anything before it is caught and sent to the afterworld with a bite of the orc. The mature orc looks at the half-orc lying on the ground for a minute before picking him up and carrying him away....
