Chapter 23

"Did you decide if you want to call him or not?" Alex asks me as I begin pacing with my phone in one hand and the note in the other. "I did but I don't think I thought this through." I say as I keep pacing until Alex steps in front of me causing me to stop suddenly. He places his hands on my shoulders and bends down a little to eye level. "It'll be okay Shorty, remember what your mom told you. Your terms." He says as I take a deep breath and nod before dialing the number left on the note and placing it up to my ear. "Hello?" I hear a deep rough voice on the other line and out of no where I forgot what I was going to say before Alex gestures to me to start talking. "Uhm, Hi. I'm Sam?" I say hesitantly not knowing what else to say. I mean I don't want to call him dad but I don't know his real name either, my mom never told me and I never cared much to know what it was. "Sam? My daughter Sam?" he asks.
