Chapter Twenty-One

We came into some sort of armoury. There are all kinds of weapons. Guns, laser guns, swords, bows and arrows, laser swords, force guns and many more. Not just weapons but also strange objects. The armoury was very beautiful to be honest. It has modern lights built in the walls and look very stylish with buttons and control panels to access other weapon categories and stuffs. Okay I'm confused. Why did Jack brought us here?

'You're here, because you have to learn to defend yourselves' a woman's voice came from up ahead. We looked up. A woman was standing there. She looked like a mother in her thirties. And she read my thought. How?

'I can read your thoughts because I'm enhanced' she said, sort of reply. Wow.

'Yes wow, the government has never let any of you to be enhanced but believe me the superiors of every city are enhanced. They just want the power for themselves'

'But aren't we stealing power?' I said.

'Stealing from an injustice superior is not a sin to me'

I don't agree with her about that though.

'Your opinion is yours, my opinion is mine. If you disagree I cannot change your mind' she said, smiling.

'Please don't read my mind' I said.

She took a long look at me, her face kind of happy. Then I heard it. Her voice in my mind "'Okay, I won't'". Wow, I'm impressed. It's like I'm in a movie or my own fantasy world.

'How do you get enhanced?' I asked. I wanted to not just learn about this new stuff but also cheer my friends up. I see they are impressed as well. I just need to trigger some point so that they won't be hiding that attraction any longer.

'You will get to that once you learn to defend yourself without powers'

Okay, that's disappointing.

'If you learn defense without powers, it will help you better with powers'

She's reading my mind again.

'I'll try to stop reading'

And again.

'Sorry'

(Speechless).

'My name's Atira and I'll be helping you train. Chief Willie has asked me to train you because if there's any way you're getting out of Ava safe is by going through the palace, which is filled with Ava soldiers'

'Wait, I've so many questions!' Fayre said suddenly.

'Yes my dear'

'How do you know we're in Ava? I mean we were heading for the main base'

'Oh my dear, the only way to get to the main base without being seen is through Ava'

What? That shocked me. Well not just me but all of us.

'So when Olivia asked us to go to the main base, she meant Ava?' Orion asked.

'Yes dear'

'You have spies and agents all around the city?' I asked.

I think Atira is tired of the questions because she started to just nod or shake her head or replying short answers.

'Then if we combine together our forces, we can overpower the capital!' Fayre said.

'No! Ava is not standing alone. All the other cities and don't underestimate the number of soldiers and techbots they have' Atira said. 'I'm here to train you. You will have to survive on your own. We cannot easily trust anyone. You know that after what happened in Warhem base. I know you are all very young but living in a time like this, you'll have to be independent'

I understood. I think we're making her job tougher. For now, that's enough information.

'Guys, let's follow her instructions' I told the rest. So we listened. Atira led us into another room. An empty room. But the floors and walls are actually nice. I'm very impressed of this whole place. You just put in furnitures and it'll look like a modern hotel. Modern hotel is classic nowadays. Common hotels are tech and futuristic. I would love to see a modern hotel. So the walls are white and made out of a thin layer of fiberglass. Which is modified with technology. And the floors are big tiles and black in colour. The tiles are made out of dynamix vinyl, a type of plastic. And also modified with technology.

'This will be your training room. There are about six of them. So one for each of you' Atira said. 'Now when I say train, each room is modified to have a computerised trainer. Listen to them and follow every steps they'll teach you. Please listen and train yourselves. Just for you to know, these trainings will be put to use when you are about to enter the main base. Which you'll have to pass through the palace and the soldiers. And trust me, everyone you'll meet in the main base is well-trained' Atira explained.

I raised my hand for one more question.

'Isn't there other entrances that we can take to get to the main base?'

'There are, but you will be seen, or you'll get eaten by the creatures of Zonex, or you have to be enhanced with invisibility. Which invisibility is impossible'

'But there must be a way. How did the rebels built the base in the first place if they can be seen?' Orion said.

'Actually, the base is a part of the old hideout for Ava back when each city is at war against one another. But now they've built a new one and much better so they abandoned the old hideout. So the rebels turned it into a base and modified it so no one else without the password can get in'

'How do we get enhanced?' Fayre asked.

'I told you before, train first then you'll learn more' Atira said, sounded a bit annoyed. 'Now go. All of you to your rooms. No time to waste. Even you young boy, what's your name?'

She was referring to Zayne.

'Zayne' Zayne replied. I smiled at how cute he responded. That cuteness is growing up soon. We entered our respective training rooms.
