The Soul Eater's Possession

"Devin, do you love me?" Hearing her question that had snapped him out of his thoughts, the Soul Eater opened his eyes slowly to meet her blue eyes once more. He smiled foolishly as his right hand reached out to her face, his thumb caressing her bottom lip. "Is that a question you dare ask your husband?" Angeal pouted like a child. "Tell me you love me... or I’ll cry." Devin chuckled, making Angeal pout more as she narrowed her eyes at him. When Devin ceased his jovial laughter, he didn’t answer her question. Instead, he bent down as he pulled her closer to him, his lips smoothly landing on hers to give her a loving kiss. ’I love you, Angeal. Before I even knew it, my heart yearned for you.’ ~ Punished by the Almighty Seraphim, Devin was branded a fallen angel and was given a curse to become a Soul Eater—a being who is hungry for souls and feeds on them for sustenance. Devin was bound on earth, looking for clues on how to cure his irrevocable curse until a desperate old man saw the Soul Eater and begged him to save his newborn granddaughter’s life. However... it comes with the price of selling both of their souls. With the old man giving both of their lives to the Soul Eater, what path lies ahead for Angeal as she grows in a house full of magical immortals? ~ The Almighty Seraphim sighed, shaking herself from her thoughts. She then spoke, planting more curiosity in the mind of the Dominion who was watching over the Soul Eater. "Continue watching over them. She is his cure, but it will lead her to oblivion.” ~ With the Soul Eater cursed and with them eventually knowing that the sweet innocent girl he saved is the cure, will their relationship be a boon or a bane? Will they perhaps have sweet love, forbidden love... or maybe even both? With the given thoughts at hand, will fate bless their lives... or curse them even more? To Rest Eternally

Edwin, Martha, and Gwen noticed those scarlet red eyes. Gwen fell on the floor as fear took toll on her body.

Arvid suddenly looked at her, then rushed to her side.

"Gwen, what's wrong?"

Martha covered her mouth as tears started escaping her eyes.

'Why?'

Gladios looked at his companions, not understanding why they were so scared.

"What's wrong," he asked but no one answered him.

Ivar went beside Edwin, as if waiting for a signal to move. He tapped his shoulder, indicating for him to look sharp.

Edwin looked at their master's personal servant, then he shook his fear by turning his hands into tight fists.

"Angeal, get away from him!"

Angeal suddenly started backing away when she heard Edwin shout. She was still surprised to see their master on the floor, coughing nonstop.

Knowing what she was told when it came to taking care of their master, she didn't know whether to follow Edwin, or to help their master.

Angeal's sweet and kind nature overruled Edwin's warning. She knelt down and hesitantly held her master's shoulder, not knowing what to do.

Devin suddenly coughed out blood, making Angeal's eyes widen with panic and worry. She touched their master's back, and Devin shot her a look scarier than death.

"Don't touch me!"

Another gust of wind came in the room, but it was meant to attack Angeal.

"Arvid!"

When Edwin shouted at his son, Arvid instinctively stood up, ran, then jumped high to catch the girl midair. He was quick enough to thankfully rescue Angeal from their master's sudden attack.

'!!!'

Everything happened so fast, that Angeal had it difficult to breathe! She clung on to Arvid's shirt for dear life as he landed safely on the ground.

"Arvid, Gwen... leave with Gladios and his granddaughter now. Do you understand," Ivar ordered, sounding urgent.

Gwen nodded then she stood up, looking at Arvid carrying Angeal in his arms. Her eyes looked worried when she saw Angeal shaking in fear as she cried on Arvid's chest.

"Let's go," Gwen said as she supported the old man who was also stunned in fear.

The four of them went out of the mansion, leaving Martha, Edwin, and Ivar behind to deal with their master, Devin.

Ivar looked at the two beside him. "You guys know what to do."

Devin's personal servant walked quickly to his side then held his back.

"Devin, calm down. They're out now. You did your best. You controlled yourself," he said, comforting their master. He looked at Ivar with his deadly scarlet eyes then spoke.

"I can't... hold it in."

Ivar looked at Martha quickly and nodded, giving her a go signal. The head housekeeper perceived his order, then ran quickly to the side. She mumbled a spell to herself, then suddenly, a hidden staircase appeared in front of her then she went down.

Devin looked at Edwin then spoke. "I have you here for a reason. Don't... hold back," he said then the best fighter of their realm nodded slowly, accepting his order.

Ivar suddenly chanted a spell, and a sheet of paper appeared on his hand. He went closer to Devin, then chanted another series of spells when suddenly, Devin stood up, about to attack Ivar.

"Edwin!"

Edwin's eyes suddenly looked serious, as if he turned into another being. In just a second, he was beside the soul eater then with just one hand, he lifted him up, then threw him hard on the ground, destroying the mansion's beautifully tiled floor.

Edwin looked at their master expressionlessly as he pinned him down on the floor effortlessly. It looked as if he was not dealing with his master! Devin winced as he held the fighter's arm and struggled.

Ivar was slightly taken aback when he saw how Edwin acted. He witnessed a lot of his fights but still, Edwin's prowess never ceased to amaze him. He's called "The Unmovable God" for a reason indeed!

"How are we holding up," Edwin asked nonchalantly then Ivar was suddenly shaken from his wandering thoughts.

"Soon," he answered as he started chanting his spells again.

Martha soon appeared, with three weak, malnourished men behind her. They looked like they are about to die soon.

"They're the last ones, but they still have some life within them left," she said and Ivar's eyes still hadn't left Devin's.

"We have no choice. He will go on a rampage if we won't do anything," their master's personal servant said then Martha kept quiet.

Ivar was already done chanting his spells then he placed the paper on Devin's chest, making his eyes a little less red. The spell was meant to keep him under control for a few minutes.

"You okay," he asked and the soul eater just looked at him as his answer. It was enough indication for Ivar to know that he was sane again.

Ivar looked at Edwin then spoke. "Let him go."

Edwin nodded then he retracted his hand from their master's chest, then stood up slowly.

"Martha, let's go," he said then Martha sighed, before giving their master and his personal servant one last glance before leaving the room.

Ivar looked at the three malnourished men on the floor with expressionless eyes.

"Your suffering is about to end," he said and the three weak men struggled to look at him.

Devin stood up then walked towards the three weak men and knelt down. Ivar turned his back from his master then walked away to give the soul eater his personal space.

'You're to rest eternally... by offering your souls to our master.'
