The Soul Eater's Possession

"Devin, do you love me?" Hearing her question that had snapped him out of his thoughts, the Soul Eater opened his eyes slowly to meet her blue eyes once more. He smiled foolishly as his right hand reached out to her face, his thumb caressing her bottom lip. "Is that a question you dare ask your husband?" Angeal pouted like a child. "Tell me you love me... or I’ll cry." Devin chuckled, making Angeal pout more as she narrowed her eyes at him. When Devin ceased his jovial laughter, he didn’t answer her question. Instead, he bent down as he pulled her closer to him, his lips smoothly landing on hers to give her a loving kiss. ’I love you, Angeal. Before I even knew it, my heart yearned for you.’ ~ Punished by the Almighty Seraphim, Devin was branded a fallen angel and was given a curse to become a Soul Eater—a being who is hungry for souls and feeds on them for sustenance. Devin was bound on earth, looking for clues on how to cure his irrevocable curse until a desperate old man saw the Soul Eater and begged him to save his newborn granddaughter’s life. However... it comes with the price of selling both of their souls. With the old man giving both of their lives to the Soul Eater, what path lies ahead for Angeal as she grows in a house full of magical immortals? ~ The Almighty Seraphim sighed, shaking herself from her thoughts. She then spoke, planting more curiosity in the mind of the Dominion who was watching over the Soul Eater. "Continue watching over them. She is his cure, but it will lead her to oblivion.” ~ With the Soul Eater cursed and with them eventually knowing that the sweet innocent girl he saved is the cure, will their relationship be a boon or a bane? Good Night

"I'm sorry, Angeal."

His words echoed in her head for a few times as their eyes met each other. Her heart was doubling up its pace as she felt his genuine sincerity when he said those three little words.

The way he even said her name had a nice ring to it, too...

When Devin moved to tighten his grip around Angeal's waist for her safety, the expression on the girl's face suddenly changed to something sour.

'Oh... why does he keep holding me...'

She had never experienced being in contact with a man this much before so being in this situation made it feel foreign to her.

But this encounter with him made her scared, why?

Because she thought that her life would end a while ago!

The girl just looked at him, slightly feeling awkward, then nodded once. Seeing the girl's reaction, Devin snapped his fingers then in just a flash, the two of them were already under the gazebo, in the mansion's garden.

Devin released the girl from his hold, making the girl take a few steps away from him, feeling cautious.

She was amazed to see the beautiful scene that Devin showed him. She appreciated it very much! However, she still found him scary... knowing that he could go out of control any time soon like how he was a while ago.

The Soul Eater put his hands inside his pocket then the girl got her phone from her pocket then typed quickly before clicking read.

"Thank you for showing me the very nice scenery, master. Good night!"

When Angeal was about to walk away, she was stopped by Devin as he pulled her by the wrist, pulling her closer to him.

"I did not tell you to leave."

The moment the human girl heard this, she pouted then she sat down on the garden chair beside her, leaving her with no choice but to stay. What she couldn't understand was why.

Is there anything else he wanted to say to her?

'What does he want!?'

Devin sat on the garden chair opposite hers then spoke.

"If you see me acting like that, I want you to stay away from me as much as possible. That is an order."

When Angeal heard him say that, she looked at him, their master looking back at her. Looking into his eyes, Angeal could really see the sincerity in his eyes as he spoke to her like this.

Angeal blinked her eyes a few times. She typed in her phone for a minute then click read.

"If it is okay for me to ask, master... why do you act that way whenever I am near you?"

Just a simple text but it took her a minute to ask him. Somehow Angeal knew that asking him this is rather serious and she wouldn't know if Devin, their master, could really open this up to her.

Devin sighed as he shook his head, not knowing what to say. He himself didn't know why he reacted this way around her.

"To be honest, I am not quite sure either. At the moment I looked at you, I find you..."

'Irresistible.'

The Soul Eater didn't know how to say the sentence and just said the last word in his thoughts.

It was true, though.

Devin had encountered a lot of humans in the past since they came here on Earth... but only Angeal gave him a different feeling. He gave him a feeling of wanting her so bad... like a hunter obsessed with its prey.

But the moment he caught her and she held him, it was rather different. The rage—the frenzy that was triggered by the girl was put to a stop by her as well. It was like the calm after the storm.

How can she be irresistible and be tranquil at the same time?

The Soul Eater didn't understand this himself.

Angeal typed in her app again then clicked read for the robotic voice to read her thoughts.

"Do you want me to keep my distance from you at all times?"

"No!"

Their master's sudden outburst of answer shook Angeal in her seat. She furrowed her brows, confused, not understanding what their master wants her to do.

'He wanted me to stay away from him and now that I clarify it to him, he doesn't want to?'

"I mean..."

'This beast is insane!'

Devin did a facepalm, feeling slightly embarrassed by his sudden outburst. He is—well, WAS a Cherubim, the second highest rank of their hierarchy and showing this demeanor is so unbecoming of him.

When he heard the girl's question, he instinctively said no, not wanting her to be apart from him so much. Why?

Is it because he felt serenity, calmness... the moment she touched him?

Devin didn't know why... he doesn't understand... but the thought of her not being by his side all the time saddened him even though they just met recently.

Their master shook his head, confusing Angeal, who was watching him.

'No, Devin. This is just a sudden feeling,' he thought to himself then he looked at the human girl in front of him.

"You don't need to keep your distance from me all the time," he said and Angeal cocked her head, with one of her eyebrows raised. "You are my servant. Remember that you work for me and that I need you," he added and even though he said that, Angeal felt like he was making this as an excuse.

'You have other servants other than me...'

The Soul Eater stood up, making Angeal stand up as well. The girl remembered her place in the presence of their master so she bowed down, making Devin look at her.

Angeal's hair dangled, hiding her face as she bowed. Devin instinctively looked at her for a while as the human girl continued bowing. When he was about to reach out to her, he stopped halfway then spoke his last words before leaving her alone in the garden as he disappeared into thin air.

"I mean what I said earlier. Good night."
