Virisse's brazen statement created a tense atmosphere on the battlefield. This was especially the case for the Beginner Sorcerers who had now taken up a peripheral role in the battle. Their lack of spells and the extreme cost to their spirit every time they cast a spell meant that they would meet their end if they faced the stronger members of the cult. They hoped to rely on the elites of the Ice Faction, but all indications showed their disadvantage and increasingly dire situation. The near-death state of Balboa, the ferocious white bear, currently stuck in the wall behind them, was evidence enough. None of them wanted to die or suffer and some were even contemplating surrendering.
