Chapter 6: Does he love me? Does she love me?

'What Am I to do? They've taken her!' he was so taken aback, feeling as if the world was suddenly upside down, he thought they had messed up his brain.

He could only hear their laughter, and then a slow whisper calling out to him from behind, it was Mrs. Ingram, 'You have to get back as fast as you can, you have to tell Hecate that the Fates have Aura, she is not going to like it and you will possibly find an ally in the Queen!' she told him as she moved fast to the door.

'How Am I going to get back, how will I defy them?' he asked sounding confused, Morgan looked over to where Mrs. Ingram stood already at the door, she just put her eyebrows up as if saying she didn't know how he was going to do it only that he had to.

'The portal in the bedroom must still be open we can try and see if you can go through it!' Mrs. Ingram said walking quickly in the direction of the bedroom praying to all the Gods that the portal was open, which thank the Gods it was.

Morgan looked at the old Lady gratitude expressed in his beautiful sorrow filled eyes 'Thank you.' he murmured looking absent minded as if he was trying to focus, and then his face changed, he shut his eyes and dove in through the portal, when he opened them next he was in another world, a world of light, blue skies, and green pastures filled with wild flowers, the only strange thing about the scenery was a big white house in the middle of the field that was not there before.

'I'm back!!' he said incredulously, he made his way to the house, the door was open, and at the end of the corridor another door opened to a huge bedroom and Aura was laying there still asleep, as if she was a fairy tale princess, she woke up suddenly coming to life breathing in an erratic manner, as if she was still in shock, Morgan made his way quickly to her, but stopped midway when she looked up and saw him the look of contempt in her face hurting him beyond anything he had ever felt.

'Stay away from me! What are you? What was that thing that changed me?' she asked repulsed by the beast she had seen, he knew it would be so, that was why he should never have touched her.

His face a grim expression Morgan tried to explain, 'The beast was my burden to bare for all mankind, I had to protect him as he protected me, he was the last of the Light Creatures, he was trusted to me by the Fates, I carried his Medallion for the last millennia, he was my friend and he sacrificed himself to help us, he gave you the Light, you are now the bearer of the mark of the last Light.' He said looking forlorn. 'Why didn't you tell me?' She asked bitterly.

'I carried a Fate worse than death, I had accepted it, that was why I had become a guardian, there was never hope for me, and then I saw you and I wished I could be someone else...someone less complicated…free…' he felt the words escape him as he looked at her and saw the Fates behind her.

'Morgan Wolfhound!' the sound was like lightening cracking down the heavens, Aura jumped scared and turned back to see her godmothers, 'What are you doing here?' she asked surprised, 'We are here to take care of you little missy, your Guardian hasn't done a good job of it so we decided you should be with us for protection.' They said in a no nonsense kind of voice, making Aura cringe.

'Protect me from what? The Shadow is still alive we didn't destroy it?' Aura asked jumping off the bed ready to do battle again; Morgan took a chance and ran to her side placing her behind him.

'What do you think you're doing?' they asked at the same time, making his skin crawl not with fear but with the desperate notion that if he lost Aura he could not go on living, she was his whole world.

As if things couldn't get any worse, Hecate came down on them like a fury from Hades, blasting power everywhere; she was what he would say royally pissed.

'What in Zeus name is going on here? Does someone care to explain?' she looked meaningfully at the Fates as if they had all the answers, which they actually did.

'We are protecting our goddaughter, did you know that he…' they said pointing in Morgan's direction, 'made love to her while he was protecting the beast of light, he risked her life and ours by doing that…' they said as if they were shocked.

'Oh!!! Don't give me that, you're the Fates, you knew that would happen!' Hecate threw back at them, the Fates gasped in disbelief; no one had dared to contradict them before.

'Oh yeah! What if we tell you your beautiful daughter conceived a child while he was still the bearer of the medallion, their child will be the regeneration of the Light lineage, did you want that fate for her, don't you think she could have avoided it, now she will no longer be Queen!' they raged their voices like a thousand waves crashing down on the sand, like tears falling down for something they now could not change.

Hecate was speechless; she turned slowly to the couple behind her, 'Is this true?' she asked them, 'Yes.' Morgan said simply expecting Aura to step away from him, disgusted by what he had done, even if he didn't know at the time they would conceive a child, by the Gods, he was going to be a father.

Aura was so shocked she couldn't speak, the first time, he had gotten her pregnant with just one try, fancy that, she smiled inwardly, they would have to get married, her mother would cut his head off if he tried to escape his responsibility, but did she want to marry without love…

Aura didn't move away from him as he had expected, if anything she clung to him, in search of protection, he cradled her close to him, making her feel how much he needed her and wanted her, 'It looks like we are embarrassing them.' Morgan said smiling with the uncomfortable looks both the Fates and Hecate were giving them.

'Yeah, they're not used to shows of affection.' Aura answered slowly appreciating the way his hair fell down on his face and tickled her cheek, he was the most important thing in her life, he was her life, she just hoped she would never let him down.

Their future seemed so uncertain, she had never felt so unsure before, she knew she loved him, but he had not once said he loved her, she knew he cared because he had come after her, but that did not mean he loved her, he would love the baby, but that was not the same, she needed to know if he loved her, for her not only because they had conceived a child together.

'You're quiet, what are you thinking?' Morgan asked 'Nothing, just wandering what the future holds for us…' she said trying to sound casual. Morgan smiled, 'I don't know, but one thing is for sure you are not getting rid of me, I guess you are my new assignment…' Morgan said looking into her eyes, he wanted to see the acceptance and the love that he felt mirrored there; she was his soul, his solace, his life, but instead he saw sadness, it only confirmed what he knew, she didn't love him, she couldn't he was a monster, for forcing her into something she had no knowledge of.

'Are you asking me to marry you?' she gave a step back to look at his face, he laughed, a nonchalant attitude, 'Yes, I believe I am.' He would never know how much it hurt her to see him laughing at something that should have been the most perfect moment in her life, in any woman's life.

'Your answer, I suppose is yes?' he asked looking down loosing himself in the blue depth of her sorrow filled eyes, 'You suppose wrong, I'm not getting married just because I'm having a baby.' She told him tears coming down her eyes as she did so, he felt so overwhelmed he was at a loss for words.

'I…I understand you have your reasons, I have no idea how you're felling being close to me and thinking I'm the reason we're in this situation.' He had to get away before he made a fool of himself, but she wouldn't let him do it, she challenged him.

'What do you understand? That I'm pregnant? That you have changed my life forever? That I'm in lov…' she turned away cursing herself for being weak, she almost told him she loved him, she did not need his pity on top of everything else.

He was by her side in an instant; drawing her into his arms making her look up to his face he traced her jaw line with his powerful fingers, the shock in her eyes as he kissed her fiercely, ravaging her mouth, plundering her depth transforming her into a quivering mass, it was too much.

'Please!' she pleaded against is lips, 'Stop!', 'No, you love me, wasn't that what you were about to say?' he asked looking at her as if his life depended on her answer, 'Well, of all the silly things I have ever heard, I don't love you!' she said making sure she captured his disbelieving eyes when she finished the sentence, 'I adore you, I worship you, how do you think you were the first to get pass all my barriers?' she teased him mercilessly.

Morgan was dumbstruck, he held her so strongly against him, she had to punch him for him to let go of her, 'She loves me! Do you hear that Fates? She loves me!' he cheered in pure ecstasy pointing at her Mother and the Fates which had scowls that would take at least a century to wear off!

His smile was so genuine, that all the words in the world could not describe it, but when he said 'I love you!' in her ear making her tremble in anticipation, she knew their love would know no limits and now there was no going back.

The Fates had unwillingly helped them recognize what they felt for each other confronting them with the most amazing news she had ever had, so yes they had made a more important commitment now not only to themselves but to their baby, one that would last all the way into eternity, fate had made sure she would not be alone.

The Fates had given a helping hand, true, and they would pay the price for having them in their lives forever, but that was such a small price to pay comparing to the happiness they would know now and forever.

Aura surrounded him with her arms and rested her face in his shoulder, the peace that was felt around them just the beginning for two creatures that had met in darkness and had made their way into the light.
