Back in Northumbria, the negotiation between Kings was ongoing.
King Ragnar wasn't sure what kind of man Osberht was but he knew with a single look that they wouldn't be able to best him and his army in a fight.
They were not only exhausted from their conquest but they couldn't even rest as they knew they had enemies within.
All they wished for was safe passage but Ragnar had a valuable piece of information and that was Ecgberht being the son of this majestic man.
That would explain why King Ælla wanted him dead in the first place.
Ragnar had to choose his words carefully.
"Your son is safe and we will release him to you the moment we're granted safe passage," Ragnar said but he could tell Osberht wasn't satisfied with this answer.
"I need to see him, King Ragnar. That isn't negotiable," Osberht said sternly, his voice threatening.
But Ragnar wasn't fazed by this and knew he had to think fast or this man might catch on.
