The Viking world had experienced a great loss and grief struck the heart of the infallible Ragnar for he was responsible for his son's death.
And without Tyr's scheming, there was no telling what would have happened to them.
It is revealed that Rolf's objective was to kill Tyr when and if the opportunity did present itself and the best way to accomplish this was by making the young warrior drop his guard.
Rolf knew that this wouldn't be an easy task but the perfect opportunity presented itself.
Askild had told him something that he used as his guide.
"If the gods will his death, you will see the opportunity to slay him,"
That was all Askild said and this in turn made Rolf believe that this was an act of the gods.
They wished for Tyr to die and as such, he was simply carrying out their sentence.
But even Rolf began to question if this was truly the fate of the gods.
