Aurelia's pov

i closed my eyes as I lied down on the green grass filled with flowers according to the instructions of our teacher to feel the nature around us and tap our inner strength.

I lied there to practice but I fell asleep instead and no one would dare to wake a princess from her sleep even if it was me, the 'mistake'.

that was what I was called.

I was born to king lathal Efad Lathch. I'm the third princess to my father and only princess to my mother. my father is the king of zinambra, elves of the earth kingdom. my mother on the other hand was just a lady in the palace who got favoured, but my father regretted it because a one night of passion resulted to me the 'mistake'.

I don't have elven ears or powers. I was born just like those people called humans.

the elves in the kingdom see me as weak, a liability that would not have happened had the king zipped his pant.

I was peacefully enjoying my nap when I heard a shout.

"Aurelia!!! what in the name of zina are you doing?" nessa, my best friend and lady in waiting called me, but I pretend to be asleep even though her scream could wake the dead.

"no, not now. get up we have to go get your dress for tomorrow."she said while pulling me up.

I groaned as I was really enjoying the sun light there.

"alright,I'm getting up. you're such a joy killer. I was just starting to enjoy my nap." I complained

"do that in the castle. now let's go,the carriage is waiting."she said and we left zinambra beginners academy.

Arriving at Oakland central market , I peeked from my window to see elves going about their daily lives....

using magic.....

something I may not be able to use forever.

Suddenly everyone started looking at my carriage and I closed the curtain. I didn't want to see the ridicule. I didn't want to see them laughing at me but I could hear them.

"isn't that the third princess?"

"of course it's her, who else uses carriage with the royal emblem"

"what a waste. She is such a beauty."

"hahaha,but her beauty is useless. earthen elves have brown hair but she has golden hair, non of the tribe has such color of hair. so odd."

yes, another one of my strange characteristics . All the elves in the earthen kingdom had brown hair, but mine was golden which non of the tribes had. I really was odd.

"Don't let their words get to you."Nessa said and rubbed my hand. I gave her a small smile.

Soon we got to the tailors shop. Aryl the owner of the shop welcomed us . she was the royal tailor who made clothes for only royals.

"Welcome your highness."

"Please drop the formality aryl. Is my dress ready?"

"Yes your highness. I will go get it."

she said and left to get the dress.

I looked around the shop where alot if gowns were hanged and I skimmed through them when all of a sudden I saw a golden brooch that was designed in the form of a rose flower.

instantly I loved the brooch so I asked nessa to buy it which she did.

after trying my blue dress ,me and Nessa left aryls shop with the dress and the brooch.

Along the way I noticed the road back to the palace was different from the one we used when coming.

"Why did we change routine?"I asked.

"There was news that vampire has invaded Oakland side road so I had to use this road as your highness safety is priority." the coach man,levy said.

I just smiled because if I hade powers ,we would all fly,but once again I proved to be a liability.

A loud sound erupted and the carriage stopped. I tried to peek outside and I noticed it was already twilight.

then we heard it.

Growl.....

'Thud'

and the carriage door came down and we came face to face with a red eyed creature.

A vampire!!!

a cold shiver went down my spine as soon as the vampire looked at me.

"How odd. A human living among elves.... Anyway, we can still make do with you though the elf's blood are more sweater." he said in a rough voice.

I looked around,trying to see if there was anything I could use to defend myself.

I saw Nessa trying to create a wind blast, but almost immediately the vampire brought out a black talisman and Nessa's wind blast vanished.

"trying to out smart me are we?"he said with a smirk.

"let us go and I promise to give you any amount of gold you want ." I said try to negotiate with him.

But instead he grabbed my hand and brought me out of the carriage.

I screamed at his touch because of how cold his hand was. He didn't stop , he took a rope and started tying me hands.

That was when I noticed that the were about four other vampire.

They already tied levy and one of them was tying Nessa who couldn't use her power.

At that point, I realized that sometimes even with magical power one could still be helpless. All along I was being ridiculed , when it was never my fault.

Even at that moment, at the hand of a predator, I smiled at the realization that I wasn't a liability, I wasn't a mistake.

I swinged me hands at the face of the vampire and he released my because he was caught off guard.

I immediately bolted with the thought to look for help, though I knew the vampires were fast , I still ran.

I entered the bush by the road side and kept running.

Even though it was night already I could still see the ground.

All of a sudden, I fell on the ground. I tried to stand up but it was futile, because I twisted my ankle.

I almost screamed if not for the thought that the vampires might hear me.

"There you are. A fast runner, aren't you?"

A voice said and I freezed.

It was the vampire....

"Since you are a sly one , how about I eat you now instead of keeping you for a few days hmmm...." the vampire who broke the door said.

"I wouldn't mind if we eat her now, but wouldn't it be more fun if we fu**d her first? she's quite pretty." a big guy with dirty sharp canine said while given a dark smile.

My heart went to my throat when a cold finger touched the left side of my neck.

" Such soft skin,hmmm....." he said and licked his lips as though I was a chicken sandwich.

I closed my eyes and silently waited for death.

'Thud'

I heard something hit the ground three times as and I slowly opened my eyes.

I came face to face with the dead body of the same vampire who was about to eat me.

"Ahharrrr......"

I screamed as even though I was the mistake, I had always been sheltered.

So seeing a lifeless being for the first time was a shock .

Then I felt my self being pressed to a hard surface.

It wasn't really a surface, but a sturdy body. The being smelt of dew and mint.

It gave a relaxing pressure that I felt calmer even though a dead person was beside me .

"Their all dead, they won't attack you again." A deep smooth voice said to me.

I courageously raised my head to look at the person and I was staring back at the most mesmerizing sea blue eyes. His head was covered with a hood so I couldn't see him perfectly well ,but he was gorgeous.

"Are you okay, lady?"he asked when I continued staring without saying a word.

"I-yes -,yes I'm fine." I managed to say. He was looking intently at me with those blue orbs that I got nervous.

I shifted away from him and stood up so I could straiten my clothes, but pain shot through my legs and I felt myself falling when a strong arm held me.

I looked up at him and saw that hi hood came off , probably because he rushed to catch me.

And I saw his hair.

It was white...pure white.
