Chapter 97

Turning from the door, I found myself in a large kitchen, like what I imagined a busy restaurant would have. Stainless steel everything, including plenty of counter space in the middle. Other than the steady plink of water on metal from the walls and ceiling, it was relatively quiet in here, the rush of water somewhat less, I supposed because it was all contained within four walls and had nowhere to go but up. Not a good room to stay in for long.

Another door on the opposite wall beckoned, so I waded my way toward it. The stainless steel reflected my movements back to me, warping my features like someone in Paul's nightmare reality. If I lost my mind, would that be how everyone would look at all times? Would my whole world be swallowed by that nightmare?
