Raising Hell

Alice

Monday, February 23, 9:43 AM

I can't sit next to a devil without wanting to slap her every time she speaks. I look over to Zayne and he keeps looking at Mina like he desperately wants her. That should've been ME, not until Mina ruined it and Brooklyn betrayed me. I try to keep up as the teacher keeps writing like he's running out of time. The bell rings all of a sudden, then I get an idea. This school needs a bit of raising hell.

Mina

I hang out with the same old group as always and we discuss a "party" that everyone's talking about. "I apparently work at Starbucks now. To pay my dads hospital bills, that is." Nate mentions, an arm over Brooklyn as she enjoys the lunch. "Will that even be enough?" Xavier asks as he holds my hand a bit tighter. I start to lay my head on his shoulder. "I hope so..." Nates voice lowers. "I don't think I want to go to a party tomorrow. I don't feel like it." Brooklyn says, not looking up at anyone.

"Why not?" Nate leans towards more. "I'm going to miss you and feel bad." He quickly adds.

"Because," Brooklyn groans, "A party is just, not what I need right now."

"Suit yourself." Xavier says. "Hey, where's Zayne?" He pauses for a moment.

"He hangs out with the junior girls, always swooning over him." I say with a disgusted tone. "I'll see you all later." Nate says as the bell rings.

Nate

I work at the register, alone with two other people. Zayne works here as well, and another girl he hits on named Charlie. It's currently my break time so I sit in the back. "Break times over Nate." Charlie says as she walks in the back. "I still got like, two minutes." I remind, looking up from my phone after texting Brooklyn. Weird, Charlie looks like she could be Brooklyn's cousin. She's very pretty with her brown hair with blonde highlights, hazel eyes, and freckles. She wears clothes that show off more and show more skin. There's much similarity but of course, I'm a loyal boyfriend and I am very in love with Brooklyn, but I've never said it. Neither of us have... She turns around and walks away.

Miss you :( Brooklyn texts.

Miss you too, but I'll be there in an hour and a half. I text back. I turn off my phone and get back to making frappes and coffee.

I rush to Brooklyn's house to pick her up. She walks down her driveways and hops onto my motorcycle, clenching onto my usual leather jacket. I leave her house and head to mine in a short time. "The house is pretty peaceful without the TV on 24/7 and my father groaning..." I say as I plop myself on the couch. "Nate, come on. Brighten up. I hate seeing you sad." Brooklyn says as she kisses my cheek. "I know, I know... But my dad is all I have. My mom is all the way in California with some random douche living the richest life." I say. A tear rolls down my eye as I look to Brooklyn. She wipes the tears off my eyes and looks at me. "Nate. What are you exactly scared of?" She asks with a pitiful face. "Brooklyn, I'm scared I'm losing everyone I love. I'm afraid I'll lose you next, or I'll find some way to screw this up." I confess, starry to cry more.

She hugs me tight, and I feel that rush. The rush of true love I've always wanted. You'd have to be a real idiot to let go of someone like Brooklyn... "I admit, this is a pretty screwed up relationship... But I can't think of a way you could ever hurt me enough to get rid of me. Whatever you do to me, I will ALWAYS—come back to you." She says. I feel a teardrop on the back of my shirt. "I love you, Nate... I always have, and I always will." She whispers, her voice cracking a bit.

Zayne

It's a day at Starbucks and nothing changes. I peek at the back and see Nate having a conversation with Charlie. They laugh and talk, He looks happy. Hm. "Hey Charlie, you going to Alices party?" I ask, going to the back.

"Obviously." She says with a smile after talking to Nate. She adjusts her apron and ties up her hair. "Now let's get back to work." She says walking up to the register. I'm not as surprised, she does have a resemblance of Brooklyn, but does Charlie have something Brooklyn doesn't?
