A wonderful evening for Bruce

Bruce was happy that he had this meeting at his home tonight. The local clan members were here and there was enough entertainment to celebrate. They came all the way from England. Some were relatives and some were friends. They came to meet other clan members here in Canada.

Bruce had hired models and local dancers for entertainment.

“Now we can begin to set our mark on this city slowly, but surely,” Bruce told himself as he looked across the gardens from the balcony of his mansion.

It had not been easy for him to do his research and find out exactly who were clan members here. He had arrived here because he had sensed that he had clan members here whom he had met years ago, but they had been separated over the years.

After he had met the first wolf family, the rest had become easier.

“Now I have dinner with clan members in their homes at least once a week,” he told himself happily before he turned around to join the rest of the party guests.

His cousin, Lyle had come up with the theme for the evening. Egyptian clothes and makeup had a way of always drawing attention. Bruce’s family loved exotic party themes. That way they knew that their invited guests would all show up.

“So, the dancers are gonna be here for a while, but I think that your models are gonna pop in at other events at other places as well tonight,” Lyle mentioned when he saw Bruce enter the dining hall again.

There were buffet tables displayed along the walls and the center of the hall. So, guests constantly helped themselves freely to whatever they wanted to eat.

“Yes, dancers are interesting, wherever one goes in the world. They really know how to enjoy a party,” Bruce agreed.

“Our clan members are not staying too late though,” Lyle mentioned as he poured some wine into his glass.

“They have other responsibilities, but as long as our relatives are still here because they’re sleeping over,” Bruce commented with a smile.

“Let’s go and mingle on the dance floor again,” he suggested.

“I would like to know how some of these dancers look behind their masks,” Lyle remarked.

“And I wonder how some of our masked clan members look behind their masks,” Bruce added.

“What do you think? Are they just afraid to introduce themselves to us because they don’t trust us yet or are they afraid of something else?” Lyle asked as they walked along the hallway on their way to the dance area.

“Do you think that we could have enemies here?” Bruce asked with a frown replacing his jovial grin.

“As long as we have actual clan members here, we can be sure that they themselves must have enemies here as well. So, their enemies automatically become ours,” Lyle replied.

“So, since you’re making this place your home, you should be careful about revealing your true identity and you should also ask your clan members about their enemies,” he advised in a low tone of voice.

“So, you mean that some of these dancers and models might not be as innocent as they appear?” Bruce asked as his eyes scanned the dancers on the dance floor.

“Well, those who prefer to wear masks might be our enemies, for all we know. But, some of them just wear masks for the sake of fun, I think,” Lyle responded.

“I just want to enjoy being here as part of the local clan, design my clothes and live in peace,” Bruce responded as he smiled at the dancers again.

“Those sentiments in themselves are a cause for others to get jealous. It’s always the case. As soon as someone wants to be left in peace, you will find that trouble begins to show up everywhere,” Lyle remarked as he scanned the crowd on the dance floor who seemed to only be having fun.

“Oh, there’s a girl with light-blonde hair. That girl in the forest also had almost white hair as you said, hey?” Lyle asked.

“Oh, the one in black or the one in red?” Bruce asked as he scanned the dance floor.

“Either one of them could be her,” Lyle replied. “Unless you know something specific about her figure,” Lyle asked with a raised eyebrow as he observed Bruce’s reaction to the two masked female dancers.

“It was a brief meeting in the woods. I didn’t get to study her physique. Only her voice and her beauty,” Bruce responded.

“Well, unfortunately, we’re perhaps not gonna see the faces of those dancers tonight,” Lyle responded with a disappointed sigh.

“I think the chances of her showing up here with a group of dancers are very slim. She’s a committed singer,” Bruce responded in a low tone of voice. He tried hard not to allow his cousin to excite him into wondering about the identities of the two dancers.

“She could have dancer friends, since she’s a singer,” Lyle suggested with a naughty grin on his face.

“Do you really think so?” Bruce asked as he looked at the two female dancers with renewed interest.

“A singer who’s also a dancer could be an exciting date,” Lyle responded with a playful wink at Bruce.

“It does sound like a full platter of delight,” Bruce responded with a shy grin.

“Then you will have to ask them both to dance and I’m sure that you’ll be able to identify the amazing voice when she speaks,” Lyle suggested.

“That’s a plan,” Bruce responded. “But I still don’t think that she would take the trouble to come over here. She seemed somewhat reserved,” Bruce remarked as he continued to observe both ladies on the dance floor.

“Then she might just show up wearing a mask,” Lyle suggested with a challenging grin as he studied his cousin’s face.

“That’s scary and interesting,” Bruce responded with a slight frown.

“Why scary?” Lyle asked with a frown.

“Because it could also mean that she came to check me out up close, or she came to check out my home and my design company,” Bruce replied.

“Like a spy, you mean?” Lyle asked as he frowned at the girls.

“Yes,” Bruce agreed.

“It could be interesting also because she might be fascinated by me enough to come and check me out so that she could get to know more about me before meeting me again,” he added with a slow grin spreading over his face.

“It seems as if it’s a while since you’ve been on an actual date. You look like a shy teenager,” Lyle remarked as he observed his cousin’s reactions.

“I’m only allowing myself an opportunity to accept some excitement into my life. What if I’m right and it is her coming to get to know me better?” Bruce responded, still smiling.

“That, or coming to get some news to give to her father who might turn out to be your enemy,” Lyle responded with an alert look in his eyes, even though he was smiling.

“Just helping you keep your feet on the ground,” he added with a gentle slap on Bruce’s arm.
