The side effect of Reincarnation

"Reincarnation is a mysterious and wonderful thing, isn´t it?" The old professor took a sip from his tea. Looking at his colleague in the opposite seat. "Just imagine the possibilities!" He spread his arms wide to indicate all the possibilities. "I am." His colleague answered sourly. "Let us assume that there is the thing called reincarnation. Then it must be a blessing for us not to remember our past lives." "Why do you say that? Just imagine If I had all the knowledge of my previous life or lives wouldn´t I be almost all-knowing?" The man smiled imagining having all the knowledge he couldn´t acquire in his lifetime. The other man just shook his head "You, my friend are far too greedy. Just imagining what would happen to a person remembering his past lives fills me with dread and pity. We are lucky not to remember anything if reincarnation is real. Thank God, that this does not happen." Hello there! Writer here. That one above is actually not part of the story, but when I thought about what the story is about that just pooped into my head. It is what this story is going for. Please give me a notice if that´s not how I was supposed to do it.

Tales of god's: Creation

They met in the darkness. Or so our ancestors were told.

Domhain the god of earth was just floating around unmoving and always still. From time to time he took a swing and threw rocks into the vast space.

Uisce, the god of water was flowing, splitting into small streams, just like rivers and streams, only to rejoin later and flow back to the vast sea that was his body.

Doite, the god of fire was restless and jumpy flickering from one place to another looking for something without knowing what he was looking for, leaving burning parts of him inside the darkness, because he never wanted to visit the same place twice.

Aer, the god of air was dancing always dancing without a care in the world, laughing and snickering alone in the darkness.

The god's were young and so they played and rested as much they wanted without much thought of what they could do.

And then they met.

There was no big reaction, there was not an Explosion or any big event like that. All of them just halted in their steps, except for Aer, who was laughing and dancing around them.

Domhain didn't look that different from the outside but he also looked at them and was dumbfounded just like the rest.

They looked at each other and tried to ignore Aer, who was babbling and telling them about her great live.

Finally the realisation dawned: They are not alone!

They began talking what they did and hoped for and soon stopped. There wasn't that much to talk about in this darkness. Except for Aer, who kept babbling and Domhain never talked much to begin with.

As they stared at each other in awkward silence Doite opened his mouth.

"Who do you think is the strongest amongst us?"

"Hahaha! I don't really care about strength that much, but did you know how fun it is to move and dance and..."

"Ha! Just take a long look and you would see that I am surely the strongest! Just look how vast and deep I am! Your flickering light can't compare!"

"Me I think!"

"Whaat? How can none of you comprehend that I'm definitely the strongest amongst us? just look at my power and see what I can do!"

From his Hands sprung a large ball of fire bringing light into the darkness ans showcasing his great abilities. But the other gods didn´t seem impressed. Domhain stretched and his rocks covered the fireball. Uisce let his water flow and fought against the fire and the rocks, while Aer was simply running around the fight watching and wondering what the other gods were up to.

All four of them looked and watched how the fight would turn out. Doite created a torch so they could see and Domhain created a seat for them to watch who of them would win. Only Aer was always moving dancing around the place of the fight.

"See? your flickering flame is nowhere to be seen anymore and the earth is not strong enough to resist my water. It is only a matter of time until I am declared the victor!"

"Not so fast! Even though my flame isn´t seen often you can still recognize its heat and see it open the earth and destroing the sea. Clearly I will be declared victor!"

"Neither of you will win."

As they kept watching looking at the fight and the dancing Aer centuries would pass and they simply kept still watching and talking they had more fun in this short amount of time then they had since their birth.

"Hey do you two notice?"

"Hmm?"

"What it is?"

"The earth keeps compressing and creating additional heat, while my water is evaporated rising and falling down cooling the earth and spreading myself all over the earth. And the wind of the dancing Aer is freezing the water keeping the water from some of the earth."

"Hmph!"

"Yeah? Isn´t that how it always has been?"

"It doesn´t look like a fight anymore..."

"Ha! Are you giving up?"

"Never! I will never admit that any god is stronger than me! But look! All three of us wanted to fight to prove who is stronger and now look at that Harmony hidden beneath the fight! What could we do if we combined our powers intentionally with a goal in mind?"

"Hmm..."

"Interesting! I was already bored from our continuous stalemate. Lets try to combine our powers! But what should we make?"

"Pictures..."

"Pictures? Couldn´t you be a bit more specific when suggesting something?"

"Pictures of us. How we see ourselfs."

"Look!"

And the earth rose in the picture of the first of our tribe. But sadly it was only earth without life or will.

"That looks strange... is that really how you see yourself?"

"Strong, sturdy, capable..."

"That doesn´t look that bad! But it needs energy to move around! So there is where I come in!"

"Wait a moment! If you just put fire in now the earth will become dry and unmoveable first we need my water to balance out the energy of your flames! So let us first combine earth and water and the combine it with your fire."

"Right..."

"OK! Hurry up you two!"

They did as they said and they finished the first puppet and the gods cheered for their success. They created a lot of such puppets in all shapes and forms all over the remnants of their foght.

Aer who was still dancing and running around them stopped, perhaps for the first time in her life and looked at the creation curiously. While the gods were celebrating she closed up to the puppets they created and kissed it.

Before any of the gods could realise what was happening she breathed wind into the puppets. And the puppets - or should I say the newborn creatures opened their eyes and looked at the gods with open eyes. The gods looked at each other and at their creations full of wonder and curiosity, while Aer was long gone dancing, running in the wind. Only a small laughter could be heard before even that was gone.

The creatures and the remaining gods started to mingle with each other.

So started the first age in which gods and creatures walked together.
