Formations

Morning came. It was a nice day with the sun shining high in the sky. After having a quick breakfast with his friends, Sej went to Elliott's place to help complete the formation. Ever since learning that Elliott was an inner court disciple, more respect could be heard in his tone when they interacted. After all, it was best to leave a good impression in case Elliott had a strong background. Elliott was also a nice enough guy who did not intentionally cause him any trouble. He was just focused on his formations.

After a half a day's work, the final step of the formation activation came. This was done entirely by Elliott as it requires Essence energy. After placing two essence crystals in the created sockets of the formation, and sending in some of his essence energy, the formation roared to life.

A mini worm-pool was created above the formation sucking in the surrounding spiritual energy before spitting it out into the centre of the formation where it began to slowly dissipate outwards.

The spiritual energy in residence because 100% greater doubling in-quantity, with such rush spiritual energy, cultivating in this environment would be twice as fast. On top of that, living in this environment would cause the body to be nourished constantly, helping your health and reducing tiredness.

Elliott thanks Sej for his work on the formation before handing him a large blue book with the words 'formations for beginners' on it.

Before Elliott spoke " Sej, you need to be careful while staying in the sect. Many of the ashfall sects are discontent with the Apail family members taking up what they believe is their space and resources. Though such disputes are usually suppressed quickly, the situation is getting worse and even the elders of the sect are starting to get annoyed. Be careful."

After saying goodbyes, Sej stores the book in his storage bag before going to the mission hall and reporting the mission complete.

Next, he returns home before cultivating. Only after calming down and completing one round of cultivation did Sej retrieve the book and begin reading.

Inside the book were many runes. The runes were all unique and oddly shaped along with tags on the side with a description of what the runes represented. For example, a rune could represent FIRE. There were all sorts of tunes in the book. Many are basic like, Water or Earth but some were more complicated like, absorb or purify.

If a Fire rune was drawn with essence energy, it would cause a small fire to manifest. These runes were the cornerstone of formation. To become a formation master, one must learn to inscribe these runes into mini flags to create formation flags. These runes would give power to the flags. The better the material the flags were made from, the more runes can be inscribed on the flag.

The same holds true for formation cores and formation disks but the roles they play differ. For example, formation cores harmonise the formation flags and remove internal friction allowing the formation to run smoothly while formation disks hold entire formation that is portable but weaker than the actual formation of the same grade.

He first three grades of learning formation was called formation apprentice. They have a corresponding cultivation realm for each grade.

Apprentice formation master starts from grade one which requires essence gathering team cultivation, grade two requires essence purifying cultivation realm while stage three requires altar-building cultivation realm. The stages after that we're not mentioned in the book

The book only had spiritual formation diagrams to study. One was a sound blocking formation, the other was the spiritual energy gathering formation.

Sej did not want to focus too much on learning the runes right now as he could not use them yet. Instead, he wants to try to improve his cultivation as much as possible in the short time he had before the hunting trip. Currently, he did not have many resources available to him as he had already used the second body refining pill for cultivation. Using the essence crystal would also. Or help much as the essence energy could not be evenly distributed around his body. This may leave a problem in his foundation. The crystals are mainly used by grade 2, essence gathering cultivators as they collect essence energy in their dantians.

Time slowly passed and it was soon time to collect his resources from the Apail family. Only two days were left for the hunting trip and he was hoping that whatever he got from the Apail family could help him better prepare for this potential deadly trip.
