Florida, USA.
I am currently a black kitten with black eyes. Though most are superstitious against black cats, I love them.
You might be asking from before, "If shapeshifting is so bad, then why are you in a cat form instead of being a human?" It's because cats are the best. I feel nimble, and people do not stare at me nearly as much as when I am a human.
Right now I'm walking down the street to a park I frequent. I soon arrive at the park and sit on the benches.
It's a medium-sized park, with there are multiple slides, swings monkey bars, walking areas along with poles, and spider pyramids that kids can use to climb up.
Finally, there are the benches I'm sitting on. I love the area as it's often breezy, and I'm able to rest. If I sat anywhere else, the trees would block the wind.
I closed my eyes and focused on the wind brushing through my fur. What a beautiful day!
My ears twitched and I opened my eyes only to see a beautiful young girl around 10 attempting to climb the spider pyramid. The girl has short red hair with sharp red eyes. I can already tell, she's going to break so many hearts.
I watched her as she slowly reached the top. She suddenly looked toward me and hopped off the pyramid. She started running to my bench but lost her balance and fell to the ground.
I sat on the bench and watched her cry. Christ, why are children noisy? They're like an alarm clock, but you can't control when it happens.
I CAN'T DEAL WITH THE CRYING ANYMORE!!
I walked over to her and curled up on her lap. Her tears instantly stopped as she started petting me and laughing. A woman walked over as I hopped off her lap.
She looked at me and then at the girl, before dragging the girl back to the car. The little girl's hand was stretched out toward me as if I was her last hope, and the look in her eyes was heartbreaking!
The girl tried to break free, but her mother was stronger. She managed to escape when the mother was about to put her in the car seat, and ran toward me.
It caught me off guard that she managed to escape but what truly surprised me was how fast she was. She ran a few meters in a couple of seconds, which is impressive for a child.
When she got to me, she grabbed me and turned tail towards the car before asking her mother:
"Kitty... Keep... Home?"
I did not fully understand the sentence, but it sounded cute.
The mother looked at her daughter in the eyes and I could see the hesitation. She did not want a cat, but her daughter put on puppy eyes. No parent can resist their child's puppy eyes. She unwillingly nodded and put the girl in the car. We soon left the park and drove to their house.
I didn't care where I was going as I'd been traveling quite a bit and needed a rest. However, my instincts told me this wasn't going to be good.
We arrived at the girl's house and the mother took the girl out of the car. The little girl immediately ran to the door as her mother soon arrives to unlock it for her.
"Arya, don't run inside the house!"
I took the hint and found out the little girl's name was Arya, while the woman's name was still unknown, however, Arya called her mommy.
Arya ran with me to her room and put me on the floor, while I just sat there and watched her rummage for things. She picked me up again and placed me on her bed.
As the day went on, the family bought things for me such as a litter box, cat food, and
.....
A collar??? I didn't sign up to be a pet!! Should've trusted my instincts back in the car. I was okay with staying, but I didn't expect they'd want me to be their pet! Arya officially named me Jin. I would never expected a cat to be named Jin, especially the fact that it's my real name, but the world works weirdly sometimes.
"Jin! You need to have this collar on you! It shows that you're a part of the family." Melody said
I likely was not in the right state of mind as it had been hours since I was caught in the park, and a long time since I last slept. I accepted it, and after waking up, I noticed the collar on my neck. Melody was sleeping next to me. It was likely late at night when everyone was sleeping.
When I stood up, I felt the weight of the collar.
"..."
I jumped from the bed and hobbled toward the mirror to look at myself. There was a full-grown black cat with black eyes and a gold collar. I loved the color choice, but I didn't love that it had to be on my neck.
Shit...
I could escape, but it's not like I want to willingly deal with the pain of shape-shifting. I walked around a bit to get used to the feeling before jumping back on the bed to sleep
