I kept staring at the reflection in the window, locking eyes with Mia. She had a small smile playing on her lips, her left hand resting on her waist. Her hair swayed in the wind, mirroring mine.
I took a step back, blinked, and shook my head. She was gone. The reflection now showed my boring face. I was sweating, my breaths rapid, almost panting like I'd just run a marathon. The man behind the window must have felt uneasy because of my intense staring. He pulled his curtains and locked the window. I was at a loss for words, my body refusing to move.
"Shit," I muttered, wiping the sweat off my forehead. "That… I… okay. Okay, Axel. Act like that didn't happen. Everything is normal. Do not let loose. Do not. Do. Not."
"Pervert!" the man inside the window shouted. "Get out of here!"
"Oh –" I stammered, snapping back to reality. "Sorry, I was just checking myself out, man!"
"Yeah, yeah. Bugger off!"
