THE KEY

Olive run out of her room frantically and nearly run over Br Michael who looked cross as always.

"Does this look like a playground, Ms Rogers?" he asked with a frown and furrowed brows.

"I'm sorry, Br Michael. I was actually just...."

"I don't want to know what you are up to but I'll tell you what you will be up to now." Br Michael paused and looked Olive up and down then he smiled making Olive become confused,"Washing the school bus."

Olive's jaw dropped as she watched Be Michael walk past her with his frown back on his face. She should have known it wasn't a good idea to run around. Just as she was about to start walking she heard Br Michael call her name so she turned around.

"Are you going to clean without water and soap?" he asked and she sighed loudly.

Olive followed him and he gave her everything she would need to clean the bus and he even escorted her to where the bus was parked. Olive started cleaning the bus and after having heard Br Michael's retreating footsteps she started slashing water on the part she had cleaned.

"You can go." she heard the man say behind her and she was so startled she hit her head against the bus.

She rubbed her forehead as she turned around and then she looked at him. She smiled weakly and awkwardly then she run away. After having run only a short distance she stopped herself and started walking after reminding herself that running had gotten her into trouble. She stopped walking when she saw Sr Drevin walking by with a small parcel in her hand. The parcel was so small that it fit on her palm alone and Olive's curiosity spiked. Sr Drevin spotted her and smiled before calling her over. Olive trotted towards the nun and was surprised when the parcel was given to her.

"It is for you." Sr Drevin said already starting to walk away.

"Who from? I mean who is it from?" Olive asked hurrying after Sr Drevin who still had the belt having the key around her waist.

"I don't know. It only has your name on it as well as that Mr Rogers." Sr Drevin answered stressing her pronunciation when she said 'Mr Rogers' to address Oliver.

"Would you like me to help you out with anything?" Olive asked staring at the dangling key as she followed slightly behind Sr Drevin.

Sr Drevin stopped walking and Olive did the same. Sr Drevin smiled only with her eyes making Olive feel wary and then the nun moved closer while Olive subconsciously moved back.

"I have only one chore today actually, would you like to help?" Sr Drevin asked in an oddly exaggerated accent and Olive nodded enthusiastically,"I have to bathe Sr Pamela Silva, the oldest nun here. Are you up for it?"

Without even knowing it Olive had contorted her face in disgust and even acted like she was about to throw up.

"I thought so." Sr Drevin whispered snickering.

The annoyed nun turned around sharply and walked away leaving Olive standing alone. Olive pouted her lips and turned around to see Maria stoically walking with her head held high. Even though Maria had seemed to be content with been the head girl, Olive noticed that she always seemed envious whenever she saw Elise. Maybe Maria wanted to be the punisher instead or it could be that she envied Elise because Oliver was attracted to her. Maria glanced at Olive and smiled half heartedly making Olive think that maybe she wanted to talk but Maria just continued walking without a single word.

Olive sighed and got her attention back to taking the key from Sr Drevin. She hurriedly walked to Oliver and Markus' room and was glad when she found Oliver absent from there.

"Hey." Markus greeted her flirtatiously as he leaned on one side of the door.

Olive smiled then pushed him inside after remembering what she had come for. Markus was stunned thinking that Olive wanted to make out but when he saw her lock the door and even draw the curtains he thought otherwise.

"Liv we can't do that." he said sitting down on the bed.

"What? You know what I want?" I've asked surprised and wondering if he could read her mind.

"Our first time should be special." Markus added.

Olive slapped her forehead and then started laughing making Markus even more confused.

"What?" he asked.

"That's not what I want us to do Mar. Hahaha!"

"Really?" Markus asked shyly.

"I want us to steal something." I've said excitedly ignoring Markus' blushing face turn into one of shock,"You remember that little keyhole on my floor? I found the key but we need to steal it."

"We can't do that." Markus said in alarm after seeing how serious she was.

"Why?!" she.exclaimed and then she walked closer to him and lowered her voice,"You want this to be special too?"

Markus instantly turned red and then shook his head dismissively. He made sit down and Olive wanted to say something but he shushed her. He then opened the door to counter check and make sure no one was there. He locked it again and checked outside from the windows then he sat down next to her after fully been satisfied with his check.

"I'm not a thief." Markus said and he once again stopped Olive from speaking,"If we steal from some high ranking staff member then we will be sent directly to the sewing room and....I know you are about to say Elise can help us but you should know she won't."

"Can I ask something?" Olive asked slowly and Markus nodded,"Is Sr Drevin considered a high ranking staff...?"

"You want to steal from Sr Drevin?!"

Olive covered Markus' lips because of how loud he was been and she put her finger on her own lips to ask him to be quiet.

Markus pushed her hand away and quietly said,"It's not possible. The convent is....."

Markus stopped talking and looked at the window with so much concentration that Olive begun to wonder if they'd been caught.

"There's a way but it's risky." he said finally looking at her again.

"You scared me." Olive sighed pinching his arm.

"Sorry."

"So what's the plan?"

Markus didn't answer right away and just took a moment to admire her gleaming face in the dim light. He moved closer to her and gently kissed her forehead and she blushed.

"You'll need a way to hide the key so even if she notices it is gone you can actually hide it. Then we'll need to steal a nun's dress as well."

"Why do I need a nun's dress?"

"To get in." Markus answered rolling his eyes then his eyes landed on the little wrapped up box in her hand,"What's that?"

"What?" she asked and then followed his line of vision,"Oh this. I haven't even checked what's inside yet."

Olive unwrapped the parcel and was more than surprised to see that there were friendship necklaces inside. Markus took one of the necklaces and looked at them carefully. One had a little heart while the other had a hook that seemed to have a missing piece.

"Markus!!!" Olive squeaked excitedly,"Look."

In the palm of her hand she had a broken little key and Markus smiled as well knowing just how much luck was on their side.

"But....who gave you this?" Markus asked in horror.

Olive turned pale wondering if Sr Drevin knew she wanted to steal the key and when she looked at Markus he looked just as pale even though he didn't know who it was.

"S....Sr Drevin did." she answered.

Brushing it aside as a coincidence they both started to plan how to get Olive a nun's attire and get her in. Markus was the one to retrieve her disguise so he went with the most transparent approach he could think of; Sr Patronelle wanted the dress for a new nun to be joining the convent. Olive and Markus sat in her room till the sun set and then she started to change into the dress.

"You should wear it while we are outside." Markus advised her,"Ms Stevenson will be returning tonight so the staff will be alert."

Olive nodded nervously and then the quietly went out. Markus tied his hair back as he led her to the back side of the building where he and Oliver had seen a nun making out with a man the other night then she quickly changed. Markus picked up a small rock and threw it at the door.

"What are you.....?"

Olive couldn't finish her words because her lips were immediately captured by Markus. When Markus heard the door creek open he immediately jolted away after covering her face partially. Olive's heart was beating erratically and soon her arm was grabbed by an elderly nun who didn't bother to check who it was and dragged her inside.

"What are you thinking? It's so bright outside and you went to do such a thing!"

Olive was silent trying to remember what Markus had told her then she spoke after the nun dug her nails into her arm.

"I...he said he needed to meet me earlier." Olive squeaked making her voice lower and exaggeratedly feminine.
