FEAR

Markus and I looked at one another wondering if that boy was gone. The building felt eerily quiet and very occupied like we were not the only ones on this floor anymore. Of course we weren't alone, that much I know but it felt like there was more than just the boy with us. I peeped through the keyhole to see if the boy was still standing there and he was, with his eye also placed on the keyhole. I moved back fearfully and heard a chuckle from outside that had Markus' eyes widen in fear.

"My room is close to Br Michael's room so if we shout he will hear us." Markus said as he walked to the lone window.

I watched him open it noisily and he started screaming for help. The banging on the door resumed with much more force and I got up to hold the door that seemed like it would break at any moment.

"Brother Michael!" Markus screamed,"Help us!"

He continued screaming and eventually Br Michael shouted for him to keep quiet.

"What is the meaning of your dumb foolery?!" he asked annoyed.

"There's an unknown boarder here and he is quite violent!" Markus shouted and at the same time a hand drove through the wooden door.

I gasped and was about to back away when Markus hit the hand with a broom. The broom broke in half but Markus didn't stop and used the end he was still holding onto to push the hand out the other side. Cuts and bruises were evident on the hand and upon closer inspection I realized that the hand did not belong to the boy but a man. The hand was pulled away and in it's stead a foot broke through another opening. Markus started hitting the foot and I decided to help by stepping on it from above at an angle I know will break the bone. The bone however, did not break as expected and it made me even more scared than I already was. If olive was here to see me she would be laughing at me or crying and complaining that I was not strong.

I used more force with my foot but when I was about to hit it the person pulled the leg away and I ended up just hitting the ground. It sent a jolt of pain up my leg and I groaned. The leg from the other side re emerged and hit my own that was straight with the hole in the door. I fell down and saw how Marcus mutilated the foot mercilessly. If this was a normal person surely they would be screaming or doing something to save their foot but no it didn't do anything like that but kept on wanting to attack. Where on earth is brother Michael.

"Who are you?" I finally heard brother Michael's voice on the other side. The banging on the door stopped and the mutilated foot was pulled away. There was a series of disgruntled noises from the other side and then followed a loud scream that I highly doubt is brother Michael's and then silence. It was quiet for a little while and then we heard a light tapping on the door.

"You can come out now," brother Michael said.

I looked at Marcus to see if he was making any effort to get up and go out but he was also stuck in his place as if his feet were glued to the floor. If brother Michael is an oddinary man himself wouldn't he need help in fighting back such as strong creature. I tried to get up from the floor but my leg would not let me.

"Are you also thinking what I'm thinking?" Markus asked me

"If you're thinking about how he managed to fight back that thing then I am thinking what you're thinking." We remained quiet and brother Michael did not make an attempt to bring us out which made it even more scary. At least I know that we were not the only ones awake in the whole building because I could hear noises from the floor beneath.

"If you boys are planning to sleep in there then I am leaving." brother Michael said.

Marcus moved from where he was standing and went to open the door where brother Michael was still standing like a statue.

"Use Mr Rogers' room for tonight so that in the morning I can get this door replaced and everything will be back to the way it was."

"I do not think anything will be back to the way it was. We cannot stay here alone." I said from where I sat on the ground.

Brother Michael glanced at me with a look of annoyance and then he looked back at Marcus,

"If you are saying you want to continue sleeping like this then no I cannot allow that. The only time I will give you to recuperate is a week and nothing more. If you cannot sleep on your own then you might as well just go back home running to your mothers. Are you injured Mr Rogers?" he asked me and I nodded my head. Wasn't it obvious that was injured.

He walked into the room and then knelt down beside me. I took that chance to look in the hallway where five other men was standing. At least I know that he did not do it alone so my heart is a little bit settled,

"What happened to the boy?" I asked but brother Michael was a little bit hesitant in answering my question,"What happened to the boy I repeated a little bit louder so that even the men in the passage could hear my question.

"He jumped off the stairs."one of the men answered while brother Michael wrapped a cloth tightly around my ankle.

"What do you mean. Committed suicide Marcus asked terrified.

"He must have seen that he was outnumbered so he jumped off. If you want you can see the body at the bottom of the stairs." I shivered at how cold brother Michael's voice sounded and I wondered just how many people he had seen die for him to have reached this level of indifference.

He got up from where he was squatting and he made his way to were the other men were standing in the passage. They whispered a few things to one another and the five men went down probably to drag away the body before any of the other students saw what had happened. Markus and I did not stay too long and we went to the room that was designated for me. The room itself was creepy and with what had happened it made it even more scary. The fact that that boy had been standing at this door makes me uneasy. We left the door wide open even though Br Michael protested and in that moment it really did not matter to me what he thought about us.

I barely slept. The moment I closed my eyes I would hear and see things that made me open my eyes again and Markus is even worse because he refuses to let himself doze off. We made it through the night hanging onto our sanity as best as we could. Vee won't believe me if I tell her about this but maybe she'll believe Markus.

"We aren't using the personal bathroom, are we?" I asked as Markus and I got ready to go and bath.

"Off course not. I'm feeling grateful for the common bathroom for once." he answered.

We walked past the bathroom like it wasn't even there and headed downstairs. All the other boys looked a little bit traumatized no doubt about last night's incident. When we were done bathing some of Markus' classmates followed us to our floor out of curiosity to look at the damaged door that had blood stains on it.

"Did you guys sleep?" one of them asked shakily as he looked at the door from afar.

"Not a wink." Markus commented.

"What a welcome newbie." another, seemingly braver guy, said playing with the door or what was left of the door.

"I don't think you boys have rooms here." Br Michael said suddenly standing beside me.

I was obviously startled and so we're the other boys who stood at attention when Br Michael's voice reached their ears. The slightly bowed and left immediately without another word and our floor fell quiet again. I looked at the stoic and calm face of Br Michael for a moment and was horrified by how his eyes rolled in their sockets to look at me. I walked to Markus eyeing the man who chose to remain silent and then we left him in the corridor to get dressed. We didn't waste time because of fear of the unknown and we left the building with Br Michael.

He left as soon as we were out of the building and I assume he is going to his room to resume the slumber that we disturbed. On our way to the classes I overheard a pair of girls talking about something that had happened that morning in their dorm.

"I want to leave Sky rooms." a tall brunette said.

"Why? I heard they have the best rooms and all." a shorter blonde said smiling up at her friend.

"This morning in the bathroom one of the junior girls got possessed. It was so terrifying!"

"Possessed?" the shorter girl inquired,"Oh come on. You believe in that crap."
