The Servant's General

A world set in the ages of warring kingdoms, in this novel you can expect a unique power trope, combat & action, strategy, a bit of kingdom politics and most importantly... No Harem. I took inspiration from works such as Kingdom and The Heroic Legend of Arslan. I'd hoped for more manga or novels that have a progress focused kingdom archetype but there hasn't been any recently so I decided to try one for myself. This novel is something I'm not too deeply invested in, but I'll keep writing for as long as people enjoy it. I'll probably write around 10-20 chapters before deciding if I'll continue or not based on feedback. [Chapter Schedule: 3-5 Per Week] [Novel Cover Image is not mine, it is a placeholder.]

Invitation X Control

On the training grounds in the encampment Kelle was sat in wonder looking over towards the two men. This was the first time he had witnessed the might of what a Regalia is capable of, and in actual combat, he could only imagine the destructiveness and usefulness that would come with soldiers who had Regalia's.

It's safe to say that even the weakest Regalia could end up being the deciding factor in a battle, but Kelle was quite curious as to how many times someone could use it. 'He doesn't look too drained or fatigued after using that, although he's sweating a bit' after looking at Stone.

"Looks like we have an audience this time Rock! Nyehaha! I bet he's stunned at our impeccable strength." Stone said smugly.

Having looked at them for some time, the twins eventually noticed Kelle's gaze on their fight, and they looked towards him.

Seeing this, Kelle nearly verbally swallowed in nervousness' I just hope these guys aren't as bad as Rosh.'

"Hey… he kind of just looks like a kid; maybe someone let him into the camp to have a tour?" said a bewildered Rock.

BONK-

Stone rapped his hand against Rock's head, looking as if he were used to it. "No, you smooth brain! Weren't you there when Captain Orin had met this guy earlier? Although… I can't really remember what his name was." He muttered embarrassingly.

'Were these guys there when I met the Captain? How come I don't remember seeing them- oh… they were probably hidden behind some of the taller guys.' Kelle pondered.

"My name's Kelle, I just got to the field after talking with the Captain and saw your fight and stopped to watch."

"But, I didn't know you two were a part of the team…" He muttered the last part.

The twins just simply looked at each other and shared a smirk as they made their way towards him.

Seeing them moving towards them with that smirk on their face, he thought about how Rosh had been aggressive to him and prepared to fight back just in case.

"Good to meetcha lad! You don't need to be so on edge. Ya got a real scary look on your face if ya haven't noticed." Said Rock as he held his hand out for a handshake.

'I do…?' Kelle thought as he realized he had overthought things and was prepared to even kill the two in front of him, maybe he should look into seeing if the Regalia really contorted his thoughts. He had never been this prone to becoming so angry before.

But he still couldn't shake the feeling as if it were a trap, and something inside of him screamed not to trust them. Yet his body betrayed his thoughts as he moved without thinking to reciprocate the handshake.

"Sorry, I was just thinking of how your fight had ended earlier and wanted to train some myself." Kelle made up an excuse.

Looking at the two up close, it was clear that they both had a decently maintained appearance. Rock had a large beard that would make anyone feel jealous, while Stone had his tied up in a few different knots. They also both had different armor, probably custom-made for their sizes, but instead of the standard leather, they had what looked to be small metal studs on theirs.

"Nyehaha! A real warrior type, are ya?" Stone said while vigorously shaking Kelle's hand.

"Almost none of the others on this team have even half the interest in fightin' as you if that's true. Most of em' came here to meet the quota for their villages and were levied as troops for the Kingdom. " Stone mentioned while finally letting go of Kelle's hand.

"How about we have a short bout? I'll go easy on ya since you're still such a little thing that hasn't grown up yet." He said smirking, and trying to get under Kelle's skin.

'I wonder if this lad really has a short temper, I remember when he looked like he wanted to rip apart Rosh, and if he does have a short fuse he ain't going to survive more than a day in battle. What a shame it'd be…' Stone thought.

Rock simply stood by his twin looking intrigued until he noticed a glow on Kelle's arm and his eyes morphed into two little round disks in his surprise. 'This kid has a Regalia…?' He kept his thoughts to himself thinking of what might happen if his brother fights the kid.

Kelle, at this point, felt quite guilty; he had been fully prepared to strike at these two with just his bare hands because he had felt so much bloodthirst remembering the things from earlier. 'These two don't really seem too bad. They're actually the friendliest people I've met so far, even if I've only met just a few…'

As Stone's proposal hung in the air, Kelle realized that he wouldn't accomplish anything if he just started automatically branding everyone as a threat to him. He would have to open up more, whether he liked it or not in order to live normally.

Although Stone's comment about going easy on him irked him in the wrong way, he wasn't going to let anger take control of him again.

"Alright then, a sparring match sounds great. I haven't actually sparred with anyone before, but I do have a bit of experience with a spear, so I wouldn't take me too lightly if I were you." Kelle replied, trying to match Stone's lighthearted and playful tone.

Hearing Kelle's reply, the two twins' eyes lit up in almost childlike joy. "That's the spirit, lad!" Stone exclaimed. "This rock-brain doesn't know how to hold back, so I'll be the one fightin' ya." He joked while hitting Rock's back.

"Hmph! Lad, go ahead and give him a beating for me. He likes to sound tough, but Stone ain't nothing much." Rock said grumpily.

The twins glared at each other for a second before Stone turned to me and said, "Well, lad, I'd be more than happy to be your first sparring partner and lay ya out flat." He gave me a snarky grin.

"Now let's get ya a spear, can't be fightin' with your hands now, can ya?" Stone added.

At his words, Kelle's face completely lit up, as if his previous anger didn't exist. The thought of the addicting feeling he had any time he'd use his spear was inexplicably exhilarated at the fact he was about to pick one up again.

Let me know what you think about the differences in speech, if they're too much I'll try and tone them down some.
