I hate Him

Baffled by his sudden words, I looked at him with a

confused look on my face. How could he say something like

that? Does he know Zoren?

I opened my mouth to speak.

"Why do you hate him?" I asked.

"If he's the reason why you failed, I hate him but for any

good reason I might not hate him, instead I'll be jealous of him,"

he uttered. His eyes never left me once as he said his genuine

words. Why?

A confused look roamed my face, continuing to observe

if his expression would change.

Why would he envy Zoren?

After a while, the man spoke again.

"Is he the reason?"

My throat suddenly felt like it dried up. I'm not sure if I

should trust him or not. I blinked several times, opposed to the

idea not until I heard a voice coming from the inside of the

house.

"Emmie, Sir James," Oddette called. We turned around,

only to see her approaching us.

"Sorry for interrupting. I just wanted to bid my best

friend goodbye," she added while looking at me.

"No it's okay, I'm also just about to leave as well," James

responded. "Happy birthday once again, Ms. Valdez," he added

to which I only nodded.

"Thank you."

After that, I saw him stretch his arms onto the thin air

and waved for a tricycle. When a vehicle stopped, he

immediately boarded and finally took off.

"How is it?" Oddette asked.

I looked at her with a confused expression on my face.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You're tutoring with Sir James. How did it go?" she

asked.

A smile crept into my face, remembering the formulas in

my head. Everything became clearer and easier to understand.

"He's an excellent teacher," I complimented.

"That's great to know! I hope next time you'll be able to

get better grades," she added to which I nodded in response.

"Anyway, I need to go home now, I'm sleepy." Oddette gestured,

putting her hand into her mouth. I laughed.

"Yeah, whatever," I said, rolling my eyes at her. "Good

night and... thank you for everything," I said, sincerely. I

embraced her into a tight hug as tears wanted to roll down my

eyes again.

She's a real friend, I mean it. I'm so lucky to have her.

When I came back inside, I noticed the living room

cleaned up. It looked like Miranda already tidied up everything

while I was out with my teacher and Oddette.

Upon closing the distance between the two of us, a smile

automatically crossed my lips.

She was sitting on the couch, watching television.

"Where's Alfred?" I asked upon sitting beside her.

"He's upstairs, "she answered.

"Thanks for the surprise." I told her after we hugged

each other.

"Come on, don't mention it. I'm glad that you like it."

Miranda responded, coaxing me. "Are you not going to sleep

yet?" she added, switching the topic.

I stared at her gaping stature before cupping my chin

with my hand. It feels surreal, seeing how we're like soul sisters.

"Yes, I'll go to sleep now," I replied as I lifted up my

head.

"Alright, let's go," she suggested. Upon the two of them

standing up and heading towards the stairs, Miranda stopped.

She turned back at me and asked, "Did you lock the main door?"

I nodded.

When I came inside my room, I immediately washed

myself and dressed in my pajamas. It was already time for bed

since I know there will be a long day coming tomorrow.

As I stretched my arms into the thin air, feeling the

exhaustion from my body, my phone suddenly vibrated.

I clicked to check who it was and as usual, it came from

the same unregistered number.

Unregistered number: How's your studies? Did you

learn, did you like the way your tutor teacher taught you? Two

questions which made me smile though I'm wondering how he

knew.

Me: Yes, I've learned a lot today. Thanks to my adviser

for tutoring me.

I replied to his text.

Me: By the way, how did you know about it?

Unregistered number: :)

Me: Hmm...

Seeing how he only sent me an emoji, I creased my

forehead. Is this a man or a woman?

Me: If you don't tell me, I'll block this number.

After sending that message, it took him several minutes

to reply. It looked like my threat worked.

Unregistered number: Please don't get mad. I'm just

concerned for you and if you're going to block this number, I

will only use another one.

A chill ran down my spine. This person is making me

anxious and creeped out. How could he say such a thing to me?

He is obviously a stalker.

I took a deep breath and typed in for a response.

Me: How would you know if I changed my number?

Unregistered number: Just the way I've known your

number.

His reply made me knit my forehead. He only gave me a

clue about whoever he is, and judging by his capability;

Miranda, Oddette and Alfred are already excluded unless... one

of them is pranking me.

Me: Do you know me well?

Unregistered number: Not much.

Me: How long have you known me or do you actually

know me?

Unregistered number: Secret. :)

Unregistered Number: I've known you but not too much.

It's just enough to say I like you when I first laid my eyes on

your mesmerizing view.

My heart leaped out of mixed emotions. Suddenly

confessing his love to me felt so foreign, I don't know how to

respond.

I know nothing about love and if I should even trust his

words. For all I know, this person can be tricking me or worse,

someone like Zoren and Oddie.

I closed my eyes filled with countless thoughts again.

Who the hell is this person?
