EMMIE POV
When I felt an arm on my shoulder, I flinched. I felt my
heart skip a beat when I heard the baritone voice of Zoren next to
me.
"Don't mind them; they're not worth it for you to worry.
They just come here to flirt with me," he muttered, shrugging his
shoulder. He glanced at me with a smirk on his face. "But sorry
for them because my heart already found the woman I should
love and cherish," he meaningfully added before putting his arm
around my shoulder. My cheeks turned bright red, my heart
pounding fast. What did he mean by those words? Who does he
love and cherish? I have no idea.
I took a deep breath before removing his arm around my
shoulder. A part of me still wanted him close to my chest but I
shouldn't. I need to put some distance between the two of us.
I looked at him straight in the eye with the same stern
look on my face. "So… it was you? The Renzo they were talking
about?" I asked, averting the topic to something else.
"Yes, my dear Señorita." He nodded his word. "My
name is indeed Renzo."
I stared at him blankly.
"So why didn't you entertain them?" I asked,
unconsciously.
"For what?" A chuckle erupted from his lips. "They're
just here to flirt with me. I don't benefit from them," he replied
full of confidence. My eyes automatically landed towards his
moving shoulder. I still can't believe how sturdy and huge it is.
He is like a giant man with an approximate height of 6'0. If you
compare mine to him, I might seem like a small person despite
having an average height of 5'2.
"Be ready Senorita, after an hour we're going to pack
up." I heard him say to which I immediately followed towards
the counter.
Exactly fifteen minutes before ten o' clock, we started
tidying up the place from sweeping to mopping the floor. I was
about to help with the chores when Zoren stopped me. He said I
should just count the money instead and leave all the cleaning to
the gentlemen. My heart would start leaping in joy, being treated
as a princess.
When the clock struck at eleven o' clock, we finally
closed the shop and left all together. Max and I rode with Zoren
in his hammer car. He even opened the door for me to which I
giggled inside.
"Sit next to me, princess." He would then say. I shifted
my gaze towards Max only to find him already sitting
comfortably on the backseat, playing with his phone. I went back
to looking at him and nodded.
"Tell me your place Señorita after we dropped Max."
Zoren then started his engine and maneuvered his vehicle
towards the road.
"Sure," I responded after shifting my gaze on the
rearview mirror of the car. Max was too engrossed in playing on
his phone and up until now, I don't think we made much progress
when it comes to talking. Upon arriving at the doorstep of his
house, he stepped out of the car and turned towards the two of
us.
"Thank you Zoren, Good night, Emmie," Max said,
smiling thinly.
A smile crept into my face.
"Good night, Max," I responded.
After that, we finally went back to the road. Tranquility
filled the gap between the two of us as we made our way towards
the direction of my house.
"Do you want to hear music?" he asked, to which I
glanced at him.
"Sure." I shyly responded.
Zoren motioned forward towards the front and turned on
the radio. He clicked on two buttons before the song started
playing in the background. It was a song sung by Shawn Mendez
entitled Señorita.
Upon hearing it, my brows furrowed a little. I wonder if
he got this nickname he's calling me from this song. As I was
busy listening to the music, I heard him call me.
"My Señorita," he mumbled, slowing down the engine of
his car. He was staring right at me. At that moment, I thought
everything stopped for a second and we were the only people in
the world. As I was starting to get hypnotized by those round
black eyes, his lips curled into a smirk before averting his gaze.
He went back to the normal speed of his car.
I just found it cute, the way he called and looked at me.
I felt my heart rejoicing at his gesture. If my parents
were still alive, I'm sure they wouldn't approve of this. Though,
they give everything to me, I'm not a spoiled brat. I've learned a
lot of work, most especially household chores.
My mother once told me as I grow up, with or without
money, I should learn how to handle chores and never depend on
a maid. I would always crease my forehead out of confusion
since in the first place, we didn't have those.
I grew up in a family where my parents taught me
everything I needed. I wasn’t aware if we were wealthy or not, I
just knew we were surviving. My eyes blinked for several
seconds.
The truth is that during their burials I didn't know those
people who attended the funeral. They just came by, gave their
condolences and left. Only Oddette and her parents were there
on my side.
I felt a warm hand touch my knuckle. When I gazed
upward, I noticed how close Zoren was to me.
My heart started pounding hard, electricity sending me
thousands of bolts in my system.
His mouth opened to speak.
"Are you alright? I was talking to you. It seems like you
didn't hear me." His baritone voice pulled me out of my
thoughts
