The two of them stared right at each other as Oddette
continued to suspect her. Are they being obvious now? Is she
finally caught in the act? Emmie tried her best not to look
suspicious in front of her friend, not until a knock followed by
the door swinging open, took their attention away. It was Oddie.
"So, I was right. You were in here," he exclaimed, the
moment he spotted his sister sitting on her bed. "Were you the
one knocking on my door earlier?" he added.
"Yes but you weren't answering," Oddette said. "I
thought you went out or something."
"Oh," Oddie paused for a second, secretly peeking at
Emmie for a second before turning his gaze back towards his
sibling. "I was taking a shower. You were probably knocking
when I was busy."
Her best friend fell silent, making the two hesitate in
their stead. It looked like she was onto something but never
bothered to continue anymore. A sigh escaped her lips.
"See? I told you, what would your brother be doing here,
anyway?" Emmie added, looking at her friend with a weak smile.
She reached out her hand to rub Oddette's back before her eyes
landing towards the man standing in front of them.
"You just finished taking a shower?" Oddie asked and to
her nodding response.
"Yes, I was busy reading an online book," she said. "The
story was interesting to a point that I almost forgot to take a
shower," she continued, giggling to herself. "I should probably
check for the author's update tomorrow again."
"I see." Oddie responded with the same chuckle.
"Anyway, be ready at around nine o' clock. We're going to have
barbecue."
"Really?" Upon being silent for several minutes, seeing
how Oddette suddenly recovered made us laugh all together. It
looked like she was looking forward to the idea very much that
she forgot about the incident.
"Yes, it's open to all who checked in the Resorts," Oddie
answered. "Be ready, and wear your best dress," he reminded
before turning around and exiting the room.
The two friends looked at each other with their eyes
squinting in excitement. They've been holding themselves from
screaming atop of their lungs out of excitement that they bursted
out laughing and giggling. "This might just make things a lot
better," Emmie thought to herself.
Oddette excused herself from her room and went back to
hers while she, on the other hand, opened her bag; looking for a
dress to wear.
It looked like things will get even better and better as
their vacation served as a relaxation for all of them before the
start of school.
As she looked at herself from the mirror, it hadn't been
ten minutes prior to her best friend leaving, when someone
knocked on the door. A woman wearing a uniform of the resorts
handed her a paper bag with clothes inside and greeted her
enthusiastically.
"Emmie Valdez," she called out.
"Yes, that's me," she responded.
"This is for you, from someone," the lady replied.
Before the door swung close, she thanked the person
who delivered the paper bag to her and opened to check the
content. Upon grabbing the piece of garment from the inside, a
smile crept into her face. It was a black flower summer dress
with a heart neckline and a v-shaped hem. The color suited her
fair skin and how gapping the texture of the fabric was.
She brushed her fingers and passed the linen clothes,
imagining how Oddie would react. Will he be impressed and
stunned? Honestly, she was surprised that someone gave her
something like this but also thought that he was only acting as a
good Samaritan. Emmie already had an idea as to who he is and
chose to message him when suddenly, her stomach rumbled.
It was already past eight in the evening when she's
almost done dressing up. She saw her phone lighting as she
received a message. She picked her phone from across the bed,
only to see who the user was.
Oby: Hey babe, are you ready?
The message was written so she immediately replied.
Me: almost.
Oby: I'm sure you're wearing a dress that perfectly fits
you. How sexy would you look, then? ;)
Me: you think so?
Oby: Yes. Should I guess the color?
Me; alright, guess.
Oby: Black floral dress.
Emmie frowned for a second. How did he know? She
fidgeted her phone to type an answer.
Me: So it was you who sent this dress?
She asked.
Oby: Which dress?
He asked in return.
A shiver ran down her spine as she realized something
was wrong. Oddie was not the one who gave her the dress? Then
who? Upon contemplating the matter, she almost threw her
phone when she received a message. Who gave her the dress?
