The Calling

"What if I were to tell you, that what lay beneath the ground you walk on, isn't exactly what you would expect"

The room sat in complete silence, As the professor carried on to explain what seemed to be some childhood bedtime story.

I sat there, eyes fixated on the clock and as if my life depended on it. The end of the school day grew nearer and I couldn't wait to escape the shitshow that lay before me.

"The oceans, rivers, lakes. The brightest of blue. Flowers in bloom, all year round. The trees full of life, animals the safest and happiest they could be. A world that no one's mind, heart, or soul would ever expect to exist."

All of a sudden the bell rang, screaming as if to say, "hey bitches, I'm here to save you!".

"His imagination is out of this fucking world" said Leroy, as he grabbed his backpack and threw it across his shoulder.

"I'm sure it's just some story his parents use to tell him and his sadass actually grew up believing it"

The Professor is one of the oldest living people left in our town, and well, his stories are what you could call, crazily imaginative. Some believe he speaks truth about the myths and legends of the untold world.

Me and Leroy left the class, Swiftly followed by footsteps behind us. "Young sir, how about you come and explain to me what you have learnt today" Leroy shrugged his shoulders, "Yes sir". And followed him back through the door.

I began to hear what seemed like mumbling, almost whispers. A loud bang, and then silence. Then the cries that followed were like no other I had heard.

I swung into the class as fast as I could, and what I saw before me was forever imprinted in my mind.

The Professor has completely disappeared!

Leroy jerked in pain, tightly clutching his wrist to his chest. His screams growing louder and louder by the second.

"What the fuck man, it burns! It fucking burns. Help me!"

I grabbed his arm, and ran what felt like the fastest I think I ever have in my whole entire life.

I Kicked open the bathroom doors with what felt like an almighty force leaving my body. Stumbling to the tap, I frantically turnt on the cold water, flailing towels everywhere as I rushed to his aid.

"What the heck happened to you dude! You've got some weird ass marking on your wrist".
