Chapter 97: The Journal

Ariana stood in his office and watched him unlock a drawer. He reached in and pulled out a leather-bound book that had an embossed rose on the cover in a different shade of leather.

"She enjoyed writing about her life in this thing. I haven't read it since she passed. I'm sure there are plenty of embarrassing stories from my childhood in that thing." Carter laughed as he held it out to her.

"Thank you for sharing this with me. I really appreciate it." Ariana took it and wrapped it in her arms.

"You're welcome." Carter warmly smiled as she leaned down to kiss his lips. "Don't stay up too late reading that."

"I won't." Ariana shrugged and straddled his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck with the journal in her hand. "But I'd love to read it beside my favorite person." She poked the tip of his nose with her index finger.

"Okay. Let's go to bed." Carter grabbed her ass and stood up, kissing her and carrying her to their bedroom.
