Chapter 35: The Great Escape

"Excuse me, Mr. Anderson?" A voice broke Carter's trance and he stopped in his tracks.

"Yes?" Carter turned to stare at someone from his marketing department.

"There are some numbers that aren't quite working out. We're unsure what to do about it, or if you might know where the numbers are coming from?" The man passed him a folder with a printed spreadsheet.

"Have you run this by Kathy?" Carter looked over the numbers and instantly saw where it was off, but he didn't have his computer in front of him to double check.

"She was lost on it too, Sir." The man worried his bottom lip and Carter didn't miss how Ariana tripped at the man's last word.

"I'll figure it out once I get back from lunch. Anything else?" Carter closed the folder and put it into his bookbag.

"No, Sir." The man swallowed hard, and Carter nodded. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Carter turned to leave and a few steps later, he was stopped again.
