Chapter 145: Sarcasm

Carter sat on the plane, texting Ariana, as he headed to Milan to help out with the restaurant and Matteo's family. His family had always been there for him and now it was his turn to be there for them. He sighed as he read her texts, each one panicking about screwing something up. She was full of what ifs, but he knew that she had it. The first thing she had to do was respond to Ms. Page about her employment.

[My slave] I can't do it, Carter. How am I supposed to tell this poor woman that she didn't get the position when I'm the one sitting in it? How? How do you do that? My heart can't handle this.

[My Master] Honey, just tell her that you found someone more qualified for the position. That she was a great candidate, but we found someone that fit it a bit more than she did. And thank her for the interview.

[My slave] You make it sound so damn easy when it's anything but! Also, Lucky misses you already.
