What did he say? He can use magic? That should be impossible for him right now. But I can see he is not lying. I never thought he would be able to find a way. It looks like his abilities are very strong. To make it get that strong he must have trained very intensely. No... this not just hard work. It is not talent either. It is something else.

"Ren, could you show me." - Seltra

I needed to be sure.

He nodded and then proceeded to cast the spell.

He gathered some of the surrounding mana. What use is that going to do? Unrefined mana like that cannot be used for a spell. He is using his will to control mana.

What are you doing Ren? What happened next was made me realised he actually can use magic.

He refined the mana using his will. The mana was refined to such a degree that he resonated with it perfectly. As result of the perfect resonation he could hear the voice of mysteries. The first spell he learnt should be fi...

"FIRE BALL" - Ren

Yup. Why do many mages always tend to learn fire magic from the start? Why not water, earth, darkness or something else? Sigh..

The mana gathered in his hands turns into a small ball of reddish yellow flame. He then shoots it into the sky. Wait...

"REENNNN... what do you think you are doing?! I get that you are excited but carelessly using fire magic could cause a forest fire." - Seltra

Ren's face turns from excitement to disappointment. Good.. it seems he understands unlike many other people.

"I am sorry mother" - Ren

His sad little childish face his cute as well.

"It's ok Ren. Just make sure to be careful from now on. You remember what I told you about what happened to this world years ago." - Seltra

"Yes, I know mother. Rest assured I will make sure that nothing like that will ever happen again. Because I will become stronger, more strong than enough to stop it." - Ren

I saw his disappointed face turning into determination. I felt happy hearing that.

"Thankyou. I also congratulate you on using magic. You really surprised me." - Seltra

"Aww.. Thanks mom." - Ren

He says with embarrassment... Cute. Wait, focus..

Did he figure out what magic really is?

"Ren, when you comprehended magic using your will. Did you notice anything?" - Seltra

"Well when I first dismantled magic, it decomposed into physical and spiritual energies along with some kind of unknown energy I couldn't understand yet..." - Ren

Oh, as I thought. He really sensed it. But it's good that he didn't understand it yet. He should learn about it later... not now...

"... Then I conducted an experiment. I managed to fuse spiritual and physical energies together to create a new kind of energy which I call psy force...." - Ren

... He said as he channels some of this power around his body. Wait... that explanation.. and that power... Isn't that... It is.

"That is KI." - Seltra

"Kii???... Wait.. you mean.. that ki?!" - Ren

He asked looking surprised. I nodded.

"... I didn't even know until now. Ohh... now I understand. So this is what martial artists back on my old world called ki. They practice the complex martial arts techniques which describes about stances, meditation, exercises, breathing techniques... to merge their spiritual and physical energies together to form ki." - Ren

"Yes. To think you unknowingly created it. So that's how you learned how to control mana. ki and mana are similar. You used your own spiritual energy to generate ki, therefore you could control it. Then some further small tinkering was all it took." - Seltra

"Yes. Anyway, then I managed to learn fireball magic. But I noticed something peculiar." - Ren

"What is it?" - Seltra

"When I casted the fireball spell, the mana seemed to summon the fire ball. I tried it many times but I couldn't figure out from where it came from. And unlike normal fire that occurs as the result of something burning, here nothing is burning... There is just the fire." - Ren

He could already guess that much. Then should I tell him.

"Ren that is..." - Seltra

He interrupted.

"Stop. I want to figure it out on my own." - Ren

"You know that you shouldn't have to do everything by yourself right." - Seltra

"I know but I have to do this by myself." - Ren

I see.. he doesn't want to rely on others because he was always alone. Doing everything alone. Just going with the flow back on his old world without being able to do what he wanted to. He wants be someone who can do everything by himself and not rely on others. But is this alright?

"Well.. ok you can figure that out by yourself but I am going to teach you from now on." - Seltra

"I am sure that I can..... Oh!.. Ok." - Ren

It seems he realised he doesn't know what to do next.

"I going to teach you magic techniques. You already know what magic is capable of so we will skip that part.." - Seltra

"Mother, if this world's inhabitants were to be placed on Earth which lacks mana.. then would they be able to use magic?" - Ren

"If a person of this world arrives on Earth or anywhere then they can still use magic. All species here have mana heart. It not only regulates blood flow but is also able to create mana using the person's energy and also by gathering the surrounding mana from the environment. So even if the environment has no mana the body's energy can be converted to mana." - Seltra

"Wouldn't that mean the person who uses too much magic on Earth will have a hard time recovering mana. How much energy do they have to intake? I don't know how much but it certainly has to be huge." - Ren

"That is true. Such a thing rarely happens here as most of the environment is filled with mana. I maintain the magic flow equally across this world." - Seltra

"Wow.. doesn't that mean mother is the strongest." - Ren

"You are not wrong. I am strong but I am not the strongest. Also I can't just do whatever I want there are limitations. You will understand that one day." - Seltra

"Oh.. ok. So tell me about magic." - Ren

"In my world magic is defined as the use of mana to cause a phenomenon. For example the FIRE BALL spell. Magic is not just based on attributes like fire, water or anything. It is much more than that. Anyone can use any type of magic. Be it fire, water anything as long as they keep trying hard enough. Your imagination and will power is what lets you cast a magic. The more your concentration then the more defined and controlled your magic will be. The power of the spell is determined by the amount of mana you used during casting....." - Seltra

(Time passes)

-- Ren's POV --

I think it has been a year since mother taught me about magic and the things regarding this world. To think that this world was so dangerous. I then understood how weak I still am. So I started learning and training much more intensely.

During this time I had completed my new ki and mana spirit vessels. Mother told me that I didn't have to make them because once I reincarnate I will have a body which will have a mana heart that is able to gather and generate mana. This is better than the spirit vessels when also considering the fact that mana is more powerful than ki. Then again she realised that having additional backups would be better as who knows what type of troubles I will have to face in the future. She can't always protect me. There are things even mother has to do. And she isn't all knowing as well. I will have only myself to rely on.

Talking with mother is always nice. I can't remember my family but I am sure that I had this same feeling as back then.

I have also gotten much stronger. But when doing a comparison.... I don't know. I haven't fought with any being in this world to test my strength. I asked mother and she told me find it out myself.

Right now it is morning. I and mother are standing near the grave. It was time for my reincarnation.

"Mother." - Ren

"Yes." - Seltra

"You said the name of the child was Ren. The same name you gave me." - Ren

"...." - Seltra

"You already planned this when you gave me this name right?" - Ren

"I won't say I didn't. But does it matter much?" - Seltra

She looked at me with a sweet smile.

I replied with my own sweet smile.

"No, it does not." - Ren

"When will I see you again?" - Ren

"Although we won't meet like this much because of some problems I need to take care of, just know that I am this world. So I will always be with you no matter what." - Seltra

"I guess that's ok. My spirit will fully reawaken 5 years after reincarnation right?" - Ren

"Yes, now move near the grave." - Seltra

-- Seltra's POV --

I am going to miss him. But there are things that we must do no matter what. Gathering a colossal amount mana around me I commenced my magic.

"SPIRIT REINCARNATE." - Seltra

I watched as rainbow coloured lights converge on Ren and the body buried under the grave. Ren falls into slumber. The rainbow lights started merging Ren into the body. The process will take a few years as the body has to be healed and rectified be able to house a spiritual being.

The earth started shaking lightly. The grave shattered and a sapling sprouted out as the rainbow lights fades. The sapling had white leaves.

This whole area may slowly change in the coming years depending on Ren's memories. I just hope it won't turn into something that looks bad.

"I guess this is where we part. Ren, ...grow stronger." - Seltra
