Chapter 41

I was relieved when he said, "People can't join the herd and their allegiances don't apply."

"I'd still like to carry your herd tattoo," I said in prayer.

"Do you know what I would like?"  ' Brave asked.  His arms were on his knees, swinging at his feet.  His shoulders were slumped.

"What?"

His eyes focused on the ground found me.  His eyes darkened for a moment.  "No one. I'm sure I wouldn't want any of them. Neither do you."  I was nervous.  I still preferred a tattoo full of cobwebs over a raven.  It was never in my hands whether I wanted it or not.  "Now let me sleep."

When I woke up in the morning, Cesur was not in his place.  I got up on my elbows and looked around.  When my hands went through my hair, I was immediately overwhelmed with the desire to take a shower.
