Chapter 1 October 6, 2023

A slight breeze flows through the long blond hair of a girl named Lia. The moonlight beams down on her like a light on a stage. She had just turned twenty six last week. She sighs as she looks on at the house she is now moving into. It is a decently sized two story house with a basement and an attic. Surprisingly the place was relatively cheap compared to other's on the market in the area. Normally she wouldn't buy a house like that, too scared by what history it could have. This time however, she had to buy it. It was the only house for miles that was affordable, and close to her work. She works as a pharmacist to a close by hospital. Jason's Memorial Hospital.

The hospital was built 27 years ago after an incident that happened somewhere in town. It was named after Jason Brook. He was a vary well known surgeon that was mysteriously found dead on June 7th, 1989.

Shaking that thought out of her head Lia walks inside. Once inside she makes her way through the house looking at the different rooms. Room after room, all empty. The moving companies truck hadn't arrived yet. She stops in the kitchen, taking a seat on the floor and leaning against the wall with a sigh. She pulls out her phone and reads 8:24PM

"Maybe I should order pizza." Lia unlocks her phone and begins searching for a pizza place that she wants to order from.

Meanwhile just outside, two cars pull up to the driveway. A black 2012 Hyundai Elantra and a red 2021 Ford Ranger. Inside Lia hears the sound of the vehicles stopping in her driveway. Slightly startled Lia walks over to the door just as she can hear the sound of four car doors shutting. Lia debates with herself if she should open the door or simply look from the window to see who it is. Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the doorbell going off. Lia looks decides to face whoever it is as she hesitantly opens the door only to be met with four of her best friends.

"Liz? Kim? Alice? Sofia?" Lia looks between the girls with shock upon her face. "What are you doing here?"

"We came to see your house of course." Kim says, rolling her eyes dramatically. Kim was a vary petite young woman with a darker skin complexion and black hair pulled up into a braid. Her eyes were green and her lips glossed a darker red from lipstick. She wears a white dotted black long skirt with a black blouse, and heels.

"I mean what else would we do." Alice adds. "We heard you came back to town, so we decided to come visit." Alice has long blond hair and blue eyes. Her skin pale and her body well built. Her clothes comprised of a leather boots, a black leather jacket over a white T-shirt, and a pair of jeans.

"Well you, should have called." Lia sighs. "I thought you were people here to rob the place, not that anyone would find much."

"Ai yai yai, Te preocupas demasiado Lia. Who would rob a house in this neighborhood?" Sofia raises an eyebrow while folding her arms. Sofia has tanned skin and brown eyes. Her brunette hair straightened out and her body curved. She wears a dark blue denim jacket over a white crop top, short shorts, and thigh high laced black leather boots.

"Yeah, it's all just houses built in the 60s." Kim adds.

"I don't know, the invisible man?" Lia says sarcastically earning a laugh from Liz and Alice. "All I'm saying is that it surprised me."

Sofia puts her palm to her head. "You and that active imagination." She sighs earning a giggle from Kim.

"Well, either way why don't you all come in. It's getting cold out."

"Yes!" Liz cheers throwing her hands up. "Thank you!" Everyone laughs at Liz's antics.

Lia steps aside opening the door all the way as her childhood friends walk in. They all wander around a bit eventually stopping in the living room.

"Wow Lia, how were you able to afford this?" Liz asks as she looks around through her dark green prescription glasses with her hazel eyes. Liz has fair toned skin and a vary thin build. Her clothes comprise of a light green button up, skinny jeans, and a pair of white Converse. "Even with what a Pharmacist makes, this would be a pretty pricy house."

"Well, I got it for dirt cheep." Lia answers. "Apparently some tragedy happened back in the 80s, and so it's value was decreased. That and the fact that the owner just wanted to get rid of it. He told me to never open the basement though."

"Interesting. I wonder why he told you not to go into the basement." Liz adds more to herself that to Lia. "Well, you always wanted to live here on Orchid Street when we were kids." Everyone has a quick laugh.

Kim looks to Liz with a smile. "I think everyone wanted to live on this street when we were kids."

"No kidding." Alice adds. "When we were kids this street was always like the rich kid area."

"It still is the rich kid area." Sofia laughs.

From there the friends spent the night talking and eventually having pizza. Overall the place was pretty lively despite the lack of furniture. However even in the lightest of times, darkness grows. Deep in the basement of the house the sound of moving metal starts up. The darkness lit by a crimson and a pale white set of glowing eyes. The figure in the darkness looks up to the ceiling hearing the footsteps of the girls upstairs. It gives of a sinister chuckle as the evil eyes fade into the darkness.

Back upstairs the girls had began dancing to music being played on one of their phones. Alice however hears the sound of a metallic clang coming from the basement below. She quickly turns off the music, much to the irritation of the others.

"Hey!" Sofia says before noticing the concerned look on Alice's face. "What's wrong?"

"Did you guy's hear that?"

"Hear what?" Kim asks.

"It sounded like a sledgehammer hitting a metal table."

"Alice, there's nothing in the house. That is quite literally impossible." Just as she said that the sound went off again causing everyone to jump. It sounded as if it came from the basement. The girls walk over to the door to the basement and look at it with slight fear among them.

"You were saying?" Sofia quips.
