The tragedy

If only the ceremony had been correct she pondered wistfully. Had the ceremony been correct, there wouldn't have had the last minute interruption where a mage had grabbed her hand and knocked down all wizards on the dais with a spell that employed a gust of wind.

She had been holding her hand out so that the senior wizard could unlock her magic.

The ceremony entailed an established wizard circulating mana around an adept wizard's body to jumpstart the process of creating magical organs but instead an opportunistic mage had teleported in to break the vulnerable pattern of magic she possessed. The mage used their free hand to ward off attacks from the wizards. Bolts of fire roared towards ciel. She could feel the corrosive sensation of her magic bubbling up inside her trying to combat the inky pull of mana that the mage possessed. The other wizard knights immediately decided that the heir of the shadow family wasn't worth risking their lives for and threw fire balls to incinerate the mage holding her arm.

"That was the thing about ceremonies." She muttered while grimacing. "It was easy to place assassins. "

Multiple assassins by the look of things. She could see everywhere that seemingly ordinary people where drawing out their daggers. One man with tattoos that crawled under his shirt pulled a Elegant short short from its sheaf. A woman with amber braids generated a an orb of sinister energy which she used to electrocute the old woman next to her. Out of the scatted discombobulated group, two young assassins approached where her parents had gotten up to manifest large spiky poison nets. The dark purple barbs dug into guests whose eyes then proceeded to roll up into their skulls and. The twin assassins unperturbed by the fast closing nets dashed to her parents slicing their necks. As she watched her parents gag from the gaping hole in their necks. her eyes went wide and she started to thrash.

Her magic now went into overload tying itself into knots. Each knot made it harder to breath as the Manna tangled up into her lungs strangling her.

The mage still didn't let go but even if he did she was still cooked. The rogue Manna had melted her insides.

Blood spurted from her mouth.

Around her various groups of assassins ticked off their lists of people they needed to assassinate. Dignitaries who had come to watched the awakening of the shadow family heir were being hunted down and slaughtered. She saw the leader of the cloud family go down to a wire using assassin and the leader of the weed family loose the top half of their head to an oncoming ax thrown by a burly person. Some people tired to sneakily settle their own grudges in the chaos. The heir of the dawn family punched a hole in the leader of the root family's head. The hole in their head was a like a window to the clear sky.

An assassin went after the gold family leader but was thwarted by its heir.

The secretaries from the clover and leaf families also cast shields to protect themselves. Ciel reflected remorsefully she would kill the one who rolled their eyes at the scene of her parents murder if she could. They were a part of the leaf family and calmly drank tea as the fighting went on. It was then the mage dropped ciel like a sack of rocks. Some of the wizards who cared manoeuvred around her body so that they fought on a different ground where there wouldn't be anymore casualties. She took a raspy breath as the world faded to black still hearing echoes of the pain and torment everyone experienced that day . She heard someone near her sobbing and the wet sensation of blood as the trail soaked her sleeves and back.

That was the day she had lost everything. She was discarded because her temper had become volatile and she was prone to long fits of vomiting as the pain as her wayward mama ached.

Her aunt who hated her secluded her own the shed on the hill deeming it unnecessary for people to see the family shame who had had fallen so far.

It wasn't fair that people started calling her mad but what she could do.
