"So that is what happened with your parents?" Bil asked, stopping the car at a red light. "I knew that something must have happened but I did not think it would be something like this." 

"Well, it is kind of cliché," I said, shrugging as I leaned back on the seat. "Poor people, have to go and borrow money, end up stealing from people in the underground … and then they end up having the pay the price for it." 

"Do you think … they are still alive?" 

"I don't know," I said, sighing as I played with the ends of my hair falling over my face. "I don't care, honestly. They are not the people that I like being around. And I would not mind it if they are dead too." 

"That's slightly morbid." Bil teased, starting the car once again. "But I suppose I can understand where you are coming from. I would not want parents like them if I was you."
