They walked the rest of the way to up the stairs in silence, their steps silent and even Yetunde's pack didn't make the clanging noise it had been making.
Femi counted the door till they reached the one they wanted– the fifth door and whatever was inside the room. He stepped back and frowned, thinking that he'd been doing a lot of frowning lately and waited for what Yetunde had in mind.
She turned to him and pointed to the wooden door and at herself making a series of fast movements that Femi took as she wanted to break the door in and that he should be prepared.
What did she want by breaking the room? Femi thought they were going to hire people not go on a daylight robbery, he took a step back and put his hand on his dagger under the cloak anyway then nodded at her that he was ready. She took a deep breath than with a swift kick the door went flying, sending splinters everywhere, she followed just behind with her sword drawn while shouting, "In the King's name, you are under arrest!"
Femi slid silently inside, his eyes taking in the room in one swipe of his eyes, two chairs, one bed, a large window but no weapon anywhere he could see as he scanned the room. Everything would be considered normal, just a group of people in a room if not for how odd the occupant are.
First was the young man that sat on the bed, he was lanky with a big head that was full of short brown hairs, his face was narrow and drawn but what caught Femi's eyes was his eyes, it was as if all the colors had been taken out leaving it bleached out and white, a blind person's eye. Yet it was as if he was peeing into Femi's soul as they stared at each other, the young man's lips lifted In a smile as if he could not only hear but see what Femi was feeling.
The second person in the room was a.... woman? Femi was having a hard time deciding because the person was wearing an oversized clothes that were then covered by an oversized cloak of brown and dull green mixed here and there with color of dead leaves– It was as if the cloak was a piece of earth that had been removed, dusted, and made into a cloak. The figure was sitting on a chair with her legs pulled up, but a face peeped from the hood of the cloak, the face was that of a woman, a woman that was in her twenties, a woman that was glaring at them now with green eyes as if they had just disturbed her sleep. They just might have.
The last person left Femi speechless, the man sat on a chair with his long legs scattered about while holding a few cards he was sliding between his fingers. The man stared at Yetunde in shock as if he could not believe he was seeing her, did they know each other? Femi asked in his mind. The man then turned his gold eyes on Femi and he could read in them his disbelief. Femi didn't blame him, he also didn't expect to meet the pickpocket he met earlier here.
"Well, everyone's here," Yetunde said as if she had not just kicked their door open, as if they had been expecting them. It did break the awkward silence.
"Well well well, if it's not the Young Master battle Sage. I must say I wasn't expecting you but welcome to my noble abode," he stood and bowed already recovering from his surprise.
The woman with the dirt cloak snorted and pulled her cloak closer to herself, the man glared at him, "don't mind, Karin here she's just shy. Now, Royal Sage Yetunde. What can we do for you? And the gentleman too of course," he smiled at them both even though it didn't reach his eyes and it was apparent that he had been surprised and he looked like a man who wasn't surprised easily.
Femi turned to Yetunde and wanted to frown but instead he made his face impassive, "You know this people? You know Him?"
Yetunde nodded, "he's the one that attacked the inn this morning, his name is Deji."
"The one that tried to kidnap you?"
"Yes."
Femi looked at her, his look asking, and you want to do what? Hire him?
"Now, come on it was just business as usual, I'm sure the Lady understands." Deji said.
"This did come back to bite you in the ass, Deji." a soft said. Everyone turned to the one that spoke, the blind young man looked at all of them in amusement, his blind eyes like polished white stone.
Deji glared at him before turning to Yetunde, "You followed me? I must commend your skill because I didn't even feel you at all and you two were together?" He looked from Yetunde to Femi.
Yetunde pointed at him instead and then at Femi instead of answering him, "You knew each other?"
Femi frowned then, "he tried to steal from me this morning and he wasn't as good as he thought he was."
"He wasn't as good as good as picking his target as he was at picking pockets that's for sure," the blind young man said from his place on the bed.
"Oh? He was good at picking pockets? I thought all he was good for was dressing and playing Lord."
"Shut up both of you," Deji glowered at both of them before plastering a smile on his face again, "I thought we had resolved this little... inconvenience between us earlier?"
"Of course but you see I can't just leave you just like that, I have to make a report to the headquarter at Grisa and you did try to kidnap me after all," Yetunde raised her brows as if asking what he had to say for himself. Femi observed all this in silence.
He scowled then said, "The capital is a long way from here and what are you going to do, bundle me with you?"
"I could make a report here and have you restrained, the Duke of the western Domain would do as his Majesty law ordered and have you arrested. The king doesn't joke with his Royal Sage you know."
It was the truth, the King had always been hard and harsh against anyone that committed any crime against his Royal Sage. They are the only people that have access to anywhere in the kingdom by the King's will.
Deji knew this as well and he sighed, "Are you going to report then?"
Yetunde played with the hilt of her sword, "Actually, I want to hire you and.. your gang."
