Despite the fact that I've never liked Thane, coupled with the fact that I am not a fan of sympathizing with people, my whole body stiffened and fear gripped my heart tightly at the sight of Thane caught in the mouth of one of the monstrous creatures.

"Oh, no! I'm going to save him!" Kiergan shouted, and was on the brink of bolting towards the scary creatures, when I caught him and wrapped my hands around him.

He struggled, and fought, but I didn't leave him, and then I noticed something strange from him. I didn't feel the connection of a Pack from him, nor did he elude the scent and energy of a wolf, and then a quick cord struck, and I trembled, causing me to lose grip on him a bit, and which gave him the chance to lose free and run.

But, since he no longer has his wolf, and he was somewhat back to being human, which he supposedly wasn't aware of, or perhaps he is, he could run far, so I caught up with him in seconds, grabbing his wrist with all of my strength.

"Wait, Kiergan! You're making a wrong choice! You can't fight them alone!"

"Leave me alone!" He struggled to wriggle his hands off mine, but he was too weak. I saw a look of fear and shock flashed across his face, and I figured out then that he had no idea he had lost his wolf.

Kiergan shut his eyes closed for a minute, probably trying to summon his wolf, but when he couldn't, he opened his eyes and stared at him. There was a mixture of excitement and a large portion of fear.

I tilted my head at him a bit, and I felt him melt. He jerked off his hand from my grip, and moved to the back.

With a shaky breath, a wobbling leg, and a pounding heart, I strode closer to where the monsters were gathered. "What do you want from us?!" It was even a shock to me that my voice didn't shake.

"Silly question!" Perhaps, the leader spoke and his voice vibrated through the woods, causing the ground to quacker, while I doubled over at the impact, "Charge!" He commanded his soldiers and they charged at us at a high speed.

"What?!" I shouted, and summoned my wolf, while I bolted to Kiergan, carrying him in my hand, and throwing him into a place farther from us.

"Orion, you bast*rd! Take me back!" I heard him call, but I didn't stop.

As soon as I got there, I joined Joanna who was already fighting with the beasts. But, it was thought their group became larger and stronger just as we killed them.

Also, I noticed that our first impression of them were queer foxes immediately we saw them, but as we fought I noticed that some of them were changing into other ferocious animals.

I was fighting a fox, and suddenly it became a wolf, but the mistake it made was shifting into a weir-deer, which seemed to have been a mistake on its part.

"They are the Navajos!" Joanna shouted, while she was fighting one of the beasts, her breathing quickened.

"What do you mean? Who are they?" I called back, as I struck a fox's chest with my claws, while dodging myself from its payback.

"They are shape-shifting witches capable of turning into any form of animals, even werewolves!"

"How'd you know that?!" I asked, while I studied and striked the beast before me, trying to find a way to its behind. I've realized that there seems to be an impairment in their sight.

Joanna didn't answer my question, so I got concerned, and turned to face the back, after striking the beast the last time in its back, and dropping it dead.

"Joanna, run!" My heart began to pound loudly against my chest, and my wolf lost its marbles at the sight in front of me.

Joanna turned her face to look at me, oblivious to the beast launching at her and was about to crush her with its feet from behind.

Without thinking, I roared and pushed Joanna away, then ran back to uncontrollably claw its heart, my wolf growling loudly. The beast screeched as red thick liquids gushed out of him, splashing on my face and trailing down its stomach, as he dropped to the ground, dead.

My chest heaved heavily as I watched the beast's dead body, before suddenly, my head snapped towards Joanna.

And, alas, she was no longer there.

"Joanna! Joanna!" I called, and searched the premises frantically, oblivious to the threat behind me too.

Just as I turned to continue my search in another direction, the beast grabbed my head, and threw me away.

I groaned loudly at the pain that assaulted my body, while I picked myself up again, but the beast was not ready to leave me yet.

The beast grabbed me by the neck again, and I knew that was going to be my end, but I didn't want to die without saving Joanna first, so I struggled, as I began to claw its wrist.

However, that got it angry, and rather dissuaded from playing with me longer. I shut my eyes closed, my heart pounding heavily against my chest, so much so that I could hear it, as it brought its claws closer to my stomach, ready to push it in.

But then, I experienced a sharp pain on my back, instead of my stomach. Surprised at the change of event, I flung my eyes open, only to see the beast terribly battered and dead on the ground, and a someone I never expected to be here, snarling loudly.
