chapter 9

'Jacky I'm glad to see you doing your work for a change as opposed to sitting here and chatting to Cindy all day' he pointedly stares at Cindy from my cubicle, and continues, 'I expect a report on the comparison of our finances from last year up to our current day sent by the end of today, I need an accounts payable and receivable report, and a report on the amount the company has spent on wages for individuals and departments, amongst other tasks that I have emailed you'. He leans down even closer to my personal space and sneers, 'And I need you to pick up my dry cleaning, I want to see it on my desk before 5pm'.

My blue eyes blaze like the sparks that start a fire, "Yeah I don't think so I don't have time to do that, nor is it my job, thank you very much' I spit out at him.

He gets red in the face as he grows enraged, 'Excuse me, what did you just say to me?'

Everyone in the office falls dead quiet and I can practically hear a vessel about to burst in Greg.

I shrug in a very blasé manner and say deadpan, 'You heard me; it's not part of my job description so I will not be grabbing your dry cleaning it's as simple as that.'

He reels back in disbelief and sputters venomously, 'I don't pay you to know your job, I pay you to work!'

I stare at him dead in the eye, 'You.Don't.Pay.Me.' for emphasis I add, 'In fact I believe it's obvious that the company endorses my income, meaning Mr Milordov pays my wages to do work for the company, he does not pay me or any other employee to waste our time on doing an individuals bidding.'

He presses his lips together and stares at me with open contempt, 'You will do what I say! This is not up for discussion, I better see my dry cleaning in my office by 5pm or else!' Greg storms off and slams his office door.

Everyone is staring in shock and disbelief at the fact that I said no to 'Greg Bradford'. They all drag their gaping mouths closed and scurry away and back to work like nothing every happened.

Ping, Ping, Ping!

I get an email alert from Cindy and see her pop her head up from her cubicle to wink at me and then disappears back to work.

Cindy: LMAO girl as my little sister would say you are so OG 'Old Gangster' that is your title from now on. That was fucking awesome. I don't think I've ever seen Greg's face change so many colours in one day, let alone see him blow like rocket. You just made my entire day! No scratch that. My weekend. Sending you a fist pump OG.

~Peace out ~ your little friend J

I snicker at her new nickname for me; sometimes she feels like such a millennial I swear.

I see from the corner of my eye that Greg is finally leaving his office for his 2pm meeting and I rub my hands together. I can finally snoop in his computer and see what he's been getting up to.

He's the last person out of the list of employees that I have already checked, and by check...I mean hack. Don't worry I'm still following all the proper privacy laws and whatnot.

My eyes narrow as I zoom in on the financial report that I sent to him earlier this week. I notice a change in a lot of the calculations and estimates that I did.

I open up all 5 of the reports that I handed in this week and notice that he has done the same on all of them. I furrow my brows, re-reading all the reports and noticing he's added a total of $1000 from the 'Total' section for our wage expenditure for the department's budget.

I nibble my thumb in frustration at what this could mean.

Out of the corner of my eye I notice a shadow approaching his office, and quickly send a copy of these reports to my computer and shut his computer off. Just as the handle turns I quickly slide under his desk.

I hear someone slam a bunch of documents on his desk, and sigh in relief as the person walks back out and shuts the door.

That was a close call.

I quickly exit his office, before anyone else can walk in and expose me.

I hurry down the corridor to get to my cubicle, just as I turn the corner I smash into a hard body, my left heel gets caught in the carpet and I feel myself falling backwards. Before I can even save myself a strong muscly arm snakes around my waist and pulls me flush against their body.

For some reason my brain short circuits and I don't say anything to the person that saved me from falling on my ass, instead my body is too busy buzzing from the close proximity of this man. His corded forearms scorch my lower back as it's only an inch away from my ample ass, and a devilish thought prods my mind, hoping this man will move his hand down a little lower so I can feel his glorious hands on my---

'Ehem' hearing Mr.Muscle clearing his throat snaps me out of my lust-induced state, and I look up to see—...No, there's no way.

I inwardly flinch, flushing in his arms not believing that my traitorous body would react to this arrogant bastard. There's no way. It must've been the momentary fantasy of being in a 'hot stranger's' arms that was giving me these weird sensations.
