Selfishness

Matthew chuckled as he continued walking to the dining hall, but what neither he nor Thobias realized was that Bethany was looking at the [LOTTERY] section of the system while her eyes glowed with determination.

When Matthew arrived at the door of the dining hall he tried to open it and couldn't, the door was locked, Matthew then started knocking on the door while he asked for them to open, then Matthew heard a voice coming from inside the dinig hall:

"Sorry, it's crowded here, we can't open the door for anyone."

Matthew then replied to whoever was inside:

"I don't want to get in and get stuck there with you, I just want to get some foods and then I'll go my way."

After hearing what Matthew said, he began to hear noises coming from inside as if they were having a conversation, and after a few minutes they replied:

"Sorry, we will not be opening the door for you yet, please continue your way or come back from where you came from."

Matthew was annoyed when he said:

"What do you guys think they're doing? This food and place is not even yours, what makes you think you can do it? "

Then the voice answered again:

"Speak what you want, we will not open, we are not fools, food will be a valuable asset in the future and we are in a group here, the food that is stored here will definitely not last long, if we split the food will worsen all."

Matthew was extremely annoyed and said:

Matthew then heard an argument coming from within again and after a minute Matthew replied:

Matthew was then going to argue with them again when he felt a tug at his arm, as he turned around he saw Bethany shaking her head negatively as she said to him:

"It's no use, Matthew, they've made their decision, no matter what we say to them, they still will not open the door, instead of wasting time here, we can go to a supermarket in the way to Dallas and try to get food there, as you planned. "

Thobias hearing this then intervened:

"Wait, what did you say? Why would we go to Dallas? That is not the wisest decision. "

Bethany looked at Thobias and said:

"Matthew's parents are there, he wants to go there to see if they're still alive."

Thobias sighed knowing he couldn't convince them he so him sighed and said:

Matthew realizing that the conversation wasn't going very well, then started walking toward the main building to get the key from a bus in the director's office, as he spoke:

"Let's go guys, let's not waste time, wasting our time is a luxury we can not afford if we want to stay alive."

Thobias and Bethany nodded and began to follow Matthew, without much surprises along the way, with Matthew fighting with only two zombies, they managed to get to the principal's office and they took the key from the bus and were prepared to start their journey to Dallas when Thobias asked :

"Great, we got the key from one of the buses, how will we drive one? I can not drive a car yet, let alone a bus. "

Bethany also said she didn't know how to drive a bus, Matthew then embarrassed to realize that even if they got a bus they couldn't use it, him said:

As they both walked through the corridors, they passed the director's room and when they saw that the door was broken they blanched with fear when they thought it was a zombie that was inside the room so they started to retreat, that's when Matthew and his group left the room.

The man who had been called Mr. Scott by Ms. Campbell then took a step forward, ignoring the fact that he had retreated with fear a few moments before and said:

"What were you students doing in the principal's room?"
