CHAPTER 25: SPLIT UP 1
Winter grunted as she landed down roughly. When she was on the other side, she touched her leg and saw blood smeared on her hand. She quickly tore part of her outfit and tied it on the wound. When she saw he had crossed it, without a scratch, she said to herself, " is the guy human".
Winter started running... I mean limping away from him.
Man: (sighs) Just stop running.
That was the first time he spoke to any of them. Winter was shocked that he spoke, but didn't say anything. She looked at her leg and saw that the cloth was already soaked and dripping blood all over. As she was limping and he was walking at a slow cool pace, Winter fell. She started sliding back on the floor, trying to get her hands on an object.
Winter:What... What do you want from us you creep? Why are you trying to kill us?
Man: That is none of your concern
Winter:(scoffs) None of my concern? You literally want to kill me for want I don't know about.
Winter finally gets a hold of a knife and throws it at him. But a water shield appears before him and deflects the knife.
Winter: (shocked) W...hat are you?
Man: An Etherian.
Winter: (confused) WHAT IS THAT?
Man: Don't worry, you will be dead soon enough.
Before Winter can reply, a huge water bubble surrounds her. Winter holds her breathe, banging on the water bubble but her attempts were futile. She bangs continuously for some minutes, before she can no longer handle it. She coughs and tries to move around, but soon gives up. Winter stretches her hand as a last resort before drowning, thinking something would happen.
Winter: p..please....so..me..thing, j..ust h..app..en
The whole time the man had been standing and watching. He had a look of concern for a split second, but it was abruptly changed.
Man: I really expected more princess.
He was not instructed to kill them, but to gauge their abilities. After taking about four steps away from her, he hears faint cracks. He ignores it at first, then the cracks become louder.
Man: What the---
The man turns to the water bubble, where Winter is and sees that the water bubble is freezing. Soon enough it breaks and the water spreads about. As he is about to drop her, she opens her eyes and immediately slices the man's left hand with a huge fragment of ice. Winter frees herself from his grasp and smirks at him.
The man looked very surprised, not because she broke out and sliced his hand, but because of the power she exhibited.
Man: I..ce (thinks)
Winter, drenched and soaked ,coughs out and says
Winter: (smirks) Ohh, you look shocked.
The man smiles and throws another water spear at her.
Winter closed her eyes and imagined they were frozen. This time it didn't work. The man stopped the spear, inches to her chest, before it could kill her. Winter sighs in relief and asks,
Winter: Why do we have these powers? What in the world is going on?
He ignores the question and starts walking away. Winter huffs in anger and frustration.
Winter: You tried to kill me for no reason I'm aware of. If you don't tell me, at least tell me your name so I can kick your butt later when I see you.
The man continues walking towards the shadow and says;
Man: Diem
Winter: Ok... Diem, next time I see you, you are dead.
Winter says that with a fierce look and Diem smiles cutely on hearing that. Diem throws his dark cloak on Winter and disappears into the shadows. Suddenly remembering Lyla's plan, Winter wraps the cloak around her clothes and runs to the nearest police station.
Winter: (thinks) What am I? a witch? or magician? because humans can't do what I or Diem did. Something weird is going on here. I wonder if that's why they targeted us because I have these powers.
Winter continues running.
Winter: Does Lyla have these abilities too?
