Chapter 45: A New Plan

Mikki blinked several times before she managed to form a proper sentence.

“What did you say? What does it even mean? The Dark Witch doesn’t exist, it’s a myth,” she stated, convinced that Fitz had gone mad and was now making jokes at inappropriate moments.

But he shook his head with a serious and painful expression on his face, and Mikki knew that he wasn’t lying.

“It's true, Mik. I saw her with my own eyes.”

Mikki gasped. That wasn’t possible, was it? The Dark Witch was supposed to be folklore, a myth from stories that old wolves used to tell their children.

“So, what is this trade about? Why did he even have to do it? I don’t understand,” she shot more questions at him, ignoring the pain in her heart and the absurdity of it all.

Then, Fitz started to tell her how they managed to rescue her from Farkas’ pack, how they were able to even get close without being attacked, and even why Farkas shouted to the air that the Witch had betrayed him. Now it made sense.
