Silence!
She had never been in a place where she could not hear anything but the mild creaking of the door when she finally ventured and peeked outside her room.
She felt the wind slightly blowing from the open window at the end of the long hallway. But the rest was utter stillness. It was like she was the only one breathing in this area of this enormous palace.
And they said that this was nothing compared to the King's place. She could not imagine what that would look like since she was already overwhelmed just by staying in her spacious room.
"Noreen, you won't believe this place." She spoke to her phone, leaving her friend a voicemail. She was probably sleeping, studying, or doing something because she was not picking up.
She would have loved to share this moment with her, but that could wait as she continued to stare into the hallway, waiting for someone to pass by. But nothing moved or made a sound.
