I Feel Like We Forgot Something?

Grayson opened his eyes on the boat. Those annoying wolves had placed something under his and Billy's nose that knocked them out. They also seemed to be knocked out themselves?

All but one. It seemed to be night time. They had knocked him out for some time. "Billy?"

Billy opened one of his eyes. "Oh, my head hurts."

Yeah, Grayson knew the feeling. Probably whatever conked them out.

"We are almost to the docking area," the werewolf Mads said to them. "Don't scream."

Don't scream? What kind of Malarkey was-?!

They didn't scream but they definitely shouted when the ship started to aim toward the water!

"What the hell, man?!" Billy shouted. "We are sinking fast diagonally!"

"No, just heading home." Mads was calm as they both were not. The other two wolves on board also didn't seem to be bothered.

Grayson watched as the water flooded around them, but not onto the ship. They were in some kind of tube heading downward? There was no water or danger. Behind him he watched the water bubble up from behind the ship. "How's it doing that?"

"We live underwater, not too far from Wolf Islands," Mad explained. "Our technology focuses more on survival underneath it and away from the judgings of humans. Both humans and the human with just a little dna attributed to them."

Hmm.

"Man, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack," Billy complained. "Warn a guy next time."

Why would he? This wolf was delighted to make their lives hell. Grayson leaned back as he watched the other two wolves start waking up.

"I don't want to get up, leave me alone," the woman grumped in her sleep.

The other one woke up and got up off the deck. "Mads? What happened?"

"Stuff." He didn't say anything else.

"What stuff?" The wolf asked Mads again.

"Stuff. It's better this way," he said cryptically. "We are almost home."

"Oh, good." The woman got up off the deck. "Trip was so boring I fell asleep right on the deck again, Devin. That sucks, I need to at least make it to a bed." She went beneath the ship and came back. "Jill and Lily are still there. They aren't thrilled we arrived, but eh?" She shrugged. "They might like it here."

Devin still seemed dazed as he looked around the tube. He checked his phone. "Why did it take us a whole day to reach here?"

"Stuff," Mads said again. "It doesn't matter, we are here."

"You can tell me what stuff stopped us for that long," Devin asked him. "Mads."

"Nothing involving us," he said. "Nothing we can help with, without dragging down the whole team. Do you want to drag the entire team down?"

Devin shook his head. "No, but I just want to know."

Mads didn't answer as they started to slide into a huge bubble. Grayson tried to move closer. Was that? "A whole city."

"Yes, a whole city of werewolves," Devin said to him. "A whole civilization. See? Buildings. People fostering relationships. A society was built of werewolves. We aren't all terrible beasts."

Maybe not, but they still abducted them and messed with their DNA. There was no coming back from that.

They left the tube and entered into the bubble. The ship actually hung in mid-air, staying in the tube.

"Pirate werewolves who live underwater," Billy said to Grayson. "Now I know I've seen everything."

"Why do you live underwater?" Grayson asked. "Why don't you just live with the mixed DNA humans?"

"The more they believed we were wiped out, the better," Devin explained. "Their values are more aligned to a human sense of values, and what isn't aligned can get really corrupted. Step off here." He pointed out the way to wherever they were going. "We don't want to live with humans or get trapped in their society."

"Trapped?" That was a weird word to use for someone that was basically his own kind.

"Anyone within the Wolf Islands must follow certain laws," Devin said to him. "Wolf Islands includes any islands within a 1,000 mile radius of each other. That distance covers all the little islands. Breaking laws can mean execution."

"So instead, all of the real werewolves that would definitely not fit into their laws?" Mattie interrupted. "Became pirates and lived underneath the water. We steal and plunder what we want from whom."

"We use what we need, and learn to create underneath the waters," Devin tried to cover for her.

"Arr," Mattie said to him in return. "We plunder a lot from the Wolf Islands since they are all over the place. I never get to go though. Too dangerous become I'm a 'female'," she said dully. "I'd be treated like royalty over there."

Grayson looked toward Jill. He didn't know why and looked away. She was odd. He couldn't stop thinking about her a few feet away from him.

"Hey, Miss 'I Smell Eggy'," Billy said to the other one. "Go away."

"My name is Lily," she called Billy out, "and I can't because if I could, I would have stayed in my own peaceful life! I was just getting treated to some lunch by a friend. I should be in my office, working right now. I am definitely losing my job, Eggface."

"Well? I lost my humanity, Eggbitch." Billy wasn't any kinder.

"You tackled us, not the other way around. We never messed with you. We completed our daily lives with no bloodshed. We followed the laws. We were good citizens with respectable jobs," Lily went on.

"Don't worry, you can find something here," Mattie encouraged here. "This isn't the Wolf Islands, you won't be hounded by guys here. There's like an almost 50/50 split. Now, Wolf Islands?" She guffawed. "Man, there's like 5% of women or less. So if just a normal life is what you want here, you've come to the right place."

"Do we get some kind of leg up on finding a career here then?" Jill spoke to Devin.

"We'll help you find a living situation," Devin said to her, still looking dazed. "We'll help everybody. I feel like we forgot something, Mads." He started to look through his pockets.

"You've got everything and more," Mads said to him. "Everyone, head to the building on the right."
