Chapter 29 - Responsibility

Aaron chased after the black-masked man. He was slippery, like a rat running through many streets. Especially with his skills, he was able to control any liquid.

The sewer water gushed his way in a huge wave format.

He simply flew up and away from it. The only problem was the prisoner was using the water to keep himself hidden. His powers were very dangerous.

If he used it without a clear sight of the vision, it will definitely end up hurting a lot of people.

"Where the fuck is that kid..."

Right then a huge thunder crashed down onto the wave.

"You decided to come back now?"

Altren flew down and hovered beside him, dodging the dirty water attacks. "Do I hear sarcasm, dear mister Zain?"

"Was there anyone hurt in that pub? Did you check the premise as I told you to?"

Altren just shrugged. "Just a few with second-degree burns, nothing bad. Let's take this man down,"

"On my signal, attack him,"

They both flew down, blocking him on either side. Aaron stood upfront with a small smile. "if you don't give up now, you might face a dangerous consequence,"

The prisoner peered at him for a second and started to laugh maniacally. "A hero killing a villain….. What an apt show…. ha-ha fuck you all!!!"

The ground under them trembled violently.

Alta and Zain took to the sky watching as the pavements and all the roads crumble. The water pipes were popping out from underneath spreading brown murky water everywhere.

But that was not the only problem. The whole road was caving in, swallowing the vehicles down as well.

Aaron gritted his teeth loudly. 'We need to end this soon….'

A huge tidal wave as tall as four stories formed right in front of them. "Today the story will change! Today the villain gets to kill the hero!!!!!"

The wall of sewer water crashed down at high speed.

Aaron did not even flinch. A huge ball of light formed in his hands. And as soon as the water strike reached close, all of it evaporated into thin air. "Alta now!"

Huge lightning crashed down once again, hitting the man in his vital points, passing down all over his body.

"aggh...." the prisoner crumbled down to the ground holding his slightly charred hands.

Aaron took his chance and handcuffed him with the special ability blocking metal. "You should have listened to me and given up. He still doesn't have control over his powers,"

"Hey, that was mean. I-I took out his hands voluntarily…that was easy, I told you right," Alta smugly whispered.

Aaron just sighed. His nephew was younger by only a few years, but his mental age was definitely that of a middle schooler.

They waited for the cops to arrive and take the prisoner in a specialized vehicle.

"Alta, follow that van until it reaches the prison facility. I'll go see what I can do to help put out the fire," Aaron patted his back.

Altren just groaned loudly. "Why me? You can go.."

"Just do as I say,"

Grumbling, Altren flew after the secured van.

Aaron flew back to the burning pub. Outside, he saw a few men crowding around shouting something.

"What's wrong?"

"Hero Zain! kang....he ran in. that kid just fucking ran it without warning." A bulky man in the security uniform said unusually biting his fingernails.

"I'll get him out, worry," just as he was about to run in, two white-covered figures dashed out from the side alley of the restaurant.

"Kang! oh my god! It's him! He got Jacob!" the rest of the survivors cheered loudly.

"Why was he here?..." Aaron watched him completely astonished. Zhu kang had a wide smirk on his face. He could not take his eyes off of him.

"Bang!!!!" the whole building burst without warning, throwing the two white dust-covered figures high up in the air.

He flew.... but before he could catch him, they both dropped to the ground, hitting the hard concrete.

"Fuck fuck....."

"Hey, Kang..." Aaron dropped down to his knees and gently rolled off the brunette from top of him. He swiftly lifted Zhu Kang off the dirty floor. His whole face was covered in mysterious white power. "Hey... do you hear me?" he gently tapped his cheeks.

"...."

"Zhu Kang! Wake up..." just as he was about to prop him up, he felt strange wetness on his thighs. He gently hugged Kang and glanced down.

The sight made his heart stop for a minute.

His thighs were fully covered in his blood.

His white suit was stained completely red.

"Don't scare me Kang... it's not your blood right....it's not...." with a trembling hand he gently touched the back of his head. He could feel the same warm wetness soaking his hair.

"Oh god... oh no....."

"Sir Zain, don't agitate him too much. Please let us handle this." the emergency responder immediately ran to them and gently pulled Zhu Kang out of his hands.

"Yes, yes, please take a look at him. his skull... he seems to have a major fracture on the back of his head. He should be admitted immediately,"'

Aaron helped prop his head safely as they placed him on the stretcher.

"The other person is okay, just suffered a second-degree burn," another responder conveyed to the young hero.

But Aaron Zain was already in a dazed state.

Holding his breath, he silently peered at the red-stained pillows of the stretcher. "he.. he is going to be alright isn't he?"

"It's hard to say," the responders gestured for the ambulance to start.

Aaron just stood out there, watching them drive away. He couldn't leave now... if he did.... he will be considered irresponsible.

He glanced back at the flaming building. The firemen had already arrived, but they were suffering to put out the fire.

"I-I need to… call someone… need backup," with his uncontrollably trembling hands he picked up his phone, but it slipped out of his fingers falling to the ground.

The screen was completely shattered. Looking at the phone that was soaking in the pooling blood, he could not hold back his tears any longer.

"Sir?" one of the firemen worriedly looked his way. "we have contacted the mighty light academy for backup with water ability. They will be here any minute now... please take some rest."

"I... I see. I will wait until my backup is here."

Zain just squatted down by the roadside, holding his aching head. 'Why was he here? Why didn't know? Why... he.... he will be okay, right? He has to be... he has to...'

A pair of six-inch-high black boots appeared in front of his sigh of vision.

Aaron glanced up. In front of him stood a young girl dressed completely in a red revealing outfit.

"Why the long face, darling? Are you hurt anywhere?" a familiar slightly screechy voice whispered whilst playing with her flaming red hair.

"Super red," Zain stood up hurriedly. "Take care of the fire. I'll be back,"

"Call me Clara....."

He flew away without a word, leaving the young hero in distress.

"he always escapes my clutches. One day, one day I swear to get a hold of that man..." the women stomped on the ground, making a huge gust of wind fly out.

Aaron silently followed after the ambulance until it reached the hospital.

Right now he was in his hero clothes. Going in there and acting familiar with Kang will only put him in danger.

So he just watched.

Altren appeared behind him with a streak of thunder.

"The prisoner is taken care of....uncle? How long do we have to stay here? I have to go. I have someone waiting for me...."

Aaron turned around and punched him hard.

"Shut the fuck up! You.... because of your stupid acts, someone's life is at risk! I told you! I told you to check if anyone was inside! Yet you didn't! What do you think being a hero is? A child's game. Your distraction put yourself and others around you at risk!"

Touching is red cheeks; Altren glanced at him in shock. "I did check... there was no one in there.... I swear."

"Shut it! Just...." Aaron slumped over, holding the walls. "You are going back to Mighty light academy."

"What? but you said I was ready."

"You are clearly not!" Aaron glared at him intently.

"I'm not going..."

"It's not an option. Either that or self-confinement! Choose!" Aaron said, tearing his suit off. He only had his thermal underneath. Just with that, he walked into the hospital.
