CHAPTER 37

Mathew was busy with his client's business as he had been in the spotlight lately. His phone rang, and upon seeing the caller's number, he smiled and answered, "Hello, Peter, what's up? Anything for me?"

Peter on the other side chuckled and replied, "Why do you always ask if there is anything for you, huh? Well, Johnny found a song he likes, so he told me to tell you to contact the person."

Mathew was taken aback since he knew how selective Johnny could be when it came to his music. He inquired, "So he found a song? How?"

Peter proceeded to narrate the series of events and showed Mathew the video of Hamza singing, his expression reflecting amazement. Mathew then asked Peter, "So, can you tell me more about the boy, and also tell me about the blogger who posted the video?"

Peter replied, "Well, I don't have much information on the boy. But for the blogger, his Instagram name is John_J. He is a small-time blogger, but he has been in the spotlight lately because he posted the boy's first song on his page. This happened before the current event of the boy singing the second song and Johnny liking it."

Mathew took a moment to think before responding, "Okay, here's the plan. First, contact the blogger to find out how he got the video. Also, conduct a background check on him."

Peter agreed, saying, "Okay, then. I will do the background check, and you can communicate with the blogger."

Mathew promptly stood up and grabbed his phone to get in touch with Johnny Drille regarding the blogger.

Meanwhile, John could be seen chatting with his friends, his joyful demeanor evident. Curious about the cause of his happiness, one of his friends asked, "Hey, John, did you win the lottery? Why are you so happy?"

Peter looked at his friend and said, "Well, you all remember about a week ago when I posted a video of that boy singing?" His friends nodded in agreement, prompting John to continue, "He sang another song and tagged me. I posted it and also tagged Johnny Drille. And all of a sudden, boom! Johnny Drille himself liked, commented, and even followed me on Instagram!" The excitement on his face was undeniable.

One of his friends remarked, "Wow, that's shocking and good. But I have to tell you to be very careful. The industry is not as it seems on the outside."

John scoffed and replied, "You don't have to tell me about that. I've seen a close friend of mine become a victim of the industry. So, I'll keep that in mind." While he finished his statement, John's phone rang, and upon seeing the caller's name, he froze.

Witnessing John's reaction, his friends were concerned and urged him, "Pick it up before the call ends."

Taking a deep breath, John answered the call, "Hello?" He spoke courteously and carefully.

The voice on the other end asked, "Am I speaking to John?"

John, filled with excitement, replied, "Yes, I am a huge fan of yours."

The voice responded, "That's good to hear. I am happy that you're a fan. Well, I have someone who wants to talk to you about something if you're available."

John enthusiastically agreed, saying, "Yes, of course, I don't mind."

However, John was in for a surprise as another voice, different from Johnny Drille's, took over the conversation. This voice was less friendly and quite straightforward. It asked, "Hello, John. I am an agent of Johnny Drille and would like to ask you more about the boy you posted recently."

John could sense a hint of hostility and wondered why he received such a tone from someone he didn't even know. Despite this, he answered, "Well, I don't know the boy. It was an account that tagged me in the video before I posted it. Probably it would be a relative or something."

The agent replied, "Okay, provide me the name of the account that posted the video. That will be all for now." With that, Mathew abruptly ended the call.

John, still perplexed, didn't know how to feel about the encounter. He was initially happy to have spoken to Johnny Drille, even if it was business-related. However, the tone of the agent left him irritated. Nevertheless, he recognized that he was just a small player in the big music industry, and impulsive actions would do him no good. He took a deep breath to calm himself, promising to remember Mathew's actions later, and sent the Instagram name that had tagged him in the video.

On the other side, Johnny Drille was displeased with the way Mathew had handled the conversation with John. He confronted Mathew, saying, "Mathew, I've told you before, I don't like this new attitude of yours. Why are you showing hostility to that boy earlier?"

Mathew scoffed in response, stating, "If I don't do it that way, he wouldn't understand the level he's at. I know people like him; they just want to live off the rich."

Johnny Drille could't comprehend Mathew's attitude and expressed his disapproval. He said, "What do you mean you know people like him? I don't like your attitude, Mathew; you've changed." With that, Johnny Drille walked away.

Undeterred, Mathew shook his head and took his phone to contact the Instagram account that John had provided. He then proceeded to call the account, and when it was answered, he introduced himself, saying, "Hello, good evening, Mr. Adekunle. I am Mathew, speaking with you. I am the agent of Johnny Drille and would like to ask if you know the boy in the video."

Adekunle paused for a few seconds before responding, "He is my son. How can I help you?"

Mathew had a grin on his face as he replied, "Well, sir, you have a very talented son, and we would like to purchase the song he sang last."

Adekunle replied, "Mr. Mathew, it belongs to my son. I would have to ask for his opinion on the matter, and we will get back to you. Have a nice day."

Mathew responded pleasantly, "Yes, sir, have a nice day ahead."
