We all look back at the screen and see Abigail strangely manipulating the demonic flames. For some reason, she was directing it towards her eyes. The guard tried to stop her, but she could move out of the way due to the increase in space around her.
We all suddenly realized what she was doing, making us sit on the edge of our seats.
As the demonic flames approached her eyes, she flinched at the heated feeling that started to envelop her pupil. She was in a vulnerable state at this point since she could barely see, but thankfully she put enough space between the guard and herself.
As the guard charged towards her, she took a knee as she gripped the side of her head in pain.
"Aren't the users supposed to be unaffected by their own flames?" I ask.
"Uhhhhh… you are probably thinking about normal fire power stones. They are called demonic for a reason. All of the demonic power stones can destroy any weaker fire than them in an instant, plus their power is just higher overall, but in return, their body slowly gets corrupted by the purple flames. I think the side effects were deviation in the heart, slowly turning them into a demon, and the instant effects were slight burns on their skin. I'm surprised she hasn't been showing much pain even up till now," Charna says.
"Wait, that's possible!? Turning into a demon?!" I shout.
"Yep. I think there are only 2 other demonic power stones, with one of them not even having demonic in its name, the Death Power Stone and the Demonic Lightning Power Stone. The demonic lightning has a quarter, half, and 3 quarters version, but the death power stone doesn't. I assume that's cause the cult following the death user was loyal and probably didn't even get to experiment on his body in the first place," Charna explains.
"How do you know all this? It seems the other girls didn't know much about this either,"
My eyes scanned the room, seeing the slight shock and curiosity within the girls in front of me.
"My family also works with demonic power stones… but it's infrequent… they are only used when in an emergency, and right after the user completes the task, they are killed instantly for obvious reasons," Charna says, sinking into her chair and directing her eyes towards the holographic screen in front of her.
We all do the same as well.
My eyes narrow slightly at seeing Abigail's pitiful state. It seems whatever she was doing was taking longer than expected.
Her left arm looked to be completely crushed. It was like a flopping noodle that had no support at all, but thanks to her high pain tolerance, she barely showed it.
She was barely dodging the massive spiky ball that hangs at the end of the guard's massive mace. It was impressive since almost all of her vision was gone as her eyes were coated with dark purple flames that almost seemed to weave themselves into her veins.
After about 2 more minutes of pitiful struggling, the dark purple flames had finished seeping into her eyeballs. A pitch-black color replaced the white part of her eye, and her pupil was a dark purple with a dark red center.
Abigail's movements suddenly became much better as soon as she had completed the fusion. Even as the mace came swinging down on her, her eyes tracked the mace as she took a side step and ducked into the guard's lower half.
With one swing of her cleavers which were back at their black and tan state, she had swung upwards towards the guard's nether regions. Though they didn't go that far due to the rocks encasing him, I could see Abigail smile in satisfaction.
"Looks like it's over," Mia mutters.
The guard's eyes peel white as Abigail takes a step out. She jumps and spins in the air, building up momentum for a spin hook kick that collides with the guard's temple.
It seems Abigail at least sprained her foot, but once again, her high pain tolerance covered up most signs of it.
The guard falls to the ground, but surprisingly, he could catch himself by manipulating a few poles of rocks to hold him up. The pupils of his eyes had returned, but the signs of dizziness were clear.
"Holy shit, what are they feeding these guys?" Celestine mutters to herself.
Abigail tries to go in for a swing at the guard's neck, but he was able to quickly move it out of the way, receiving a large cut on his lip.
"She's panicking. She already knows her blades won't do shit against his neck, but she's still aiming for it… *sigh* get it together," I mutter.
Using the rocky poles as support, the guard was able to push himself up and block another swing directed at his face with his rocky body armor. I could see the chipping of the cleaver, displaying how hard the guard's body armor is and how hard Abigail was swinging.
The guard shows a malicious smile as he slams his fists together, clearly dropping the idea of picking up his mace. Abigail took a few stumbling steps back before lowering her stance even further. She was almost parallel to the ground.
A trail of sweat ran down her cheek as she quickly realized what she had been doing wrong this entire time…
Abigail dropped both of her cleavers, causing them to sink into the dirt below. She also slammed her fists together before dashing towards the guard.
"Jeez… it took her long enough," Aria says with a smile of satisfaction.
It was a flaw she only just realized until now.
Her power stone is at least 1 or 2 ranks higher than the guard before her, so that means in terms of state-wise, she is much "stronger" than him. Every rank of power stone gives you a designated power and increased "stats" for you to use the power easier.
Also, using sharp weapons against such a hard surface was idiotic from the beginning, but she kept using that idiotic idea. That conveyed how much she has relied on weapons throughout her life.
Abigail slides under the guard's legs as he throws a heavy but slow punch. She looked up and planted her feet on the ground, jumping up and spinning in the air before slamming her right fist into the guard's back.
The guard didn't have many repercussions, but his rock armor definitely did. A massive crack instantly appeared on his rocky armor, slightly surprising him. In his shock, he stumbled forward, and Abigail used this chance to land on the ground again before sending another fist towards his back.
BAM
The sound of her fist colliding with the guard's body armor created an ear-shattering sound that blew a gust of wind across the freshly cut lawn. The guard coughed up blood before slamming his face into the ground.
He tried to manipulate the earth below him to help him up, but Abigail was already on to her next move. She stood on the guard's back, and her smile from before had been wiped completely, leaving a cold and emotionless woman readying a fist behind her ear.
BAM
BAM
BAM
BAM
BAM
The sound of Abigail's punches filled the air, even surprising some of the guards and members inside of the mansion.
BAM
BAM
BAM
BAM
BAM
An onslaught of punches continued to pound the guard below her. Abigail almost completely shattered his rocky body armor, and since the guard had been knocked unconscious, he couldn't regenerate it in the slightest.
Even after she saw that the guard was unconscious, she continued to pound the guard with punches. She kept chipping away at the densely packed rocks until her punches had fully revealed the guard's muscular back.
BAM
Just one final punch made his back cave in, his spine snapping in half. Blood spurted from the guard's mouth before he had finally died.
Abigail retreated another punch that was ready to deal another potential final blow before letting out a deep breath. She wiped the blood from her knuckles as it seems her skin couldn't keep up with her power.
"It seems her fists are broken as well... that guard's body must've been harder than titanium," Mia mutters to herself.
Finally, after checking her body, she barely picked up her cleavers and dashed back into the mansion, ready to give support.
