Chapter 9: Battle for Suben (I)

---Lilith POV----

The light's were quickly getting closer and a faint shout could be heard in the distance. I guessed what would happen and immediately climbed down my favorite tree, Fenrir followed at an instant.

As I ran though the Forest I saw smoke rising in the distance and I grew desperate.

----Beornfred POV----

*Tomorrow is Lilith's 14th birthday...is it time to introduce her to the other lords?...no it is still to early for her to go onto the battlefield. Killing some monsters in the forest isn't the same as fighting humans.*

"WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!"

The shout from my Brother threw me out of my thoughts, and I immediately rushed out of the clan's hall.

"Who is it Brother?"

"I don't know but they are human for sure, maybe the Emp.....wha.....?"

A ray of blinding light smashed through our palisade and hit my Brother in the chest. As I saw the gaping hole that was left I knew who we were up against.

*The 'Hero of Light'....*

I rushed back into the clan's hall to get my son and my love. Hertha had already geared up and was battle ready while my son was nowhere to be found.

"Where is Bertwulf?"

"He's with Luana and Loti...they left an Hour ago...what is it, why are you so pale?"

"Aymeric is dead...the empire send the hero..."

"We need to send someone to fetch our children and the twins, and while they flee we buy them as much time as we can."

As always my love was quick to react, that's why she was our queen's bodyguard, every assassination attempts made on her life failed because my love always found quick solutions to safe the day. I sent her to inform Ginette of her task and then went to confront the imperial troops and this so called 'Hero'.

----Charles POV----

"Onward brave warriors, let us cleanse the lands of evil, that has spread far to long, bring down our foes and cheer, because Claudius shines above all that is good and righteous!"

My soldiers all screamed:

"FOR HUMANITY!"

and began to charge into this infested village. Whoever would face us, the good and Holy will always prevail.

"Hero we need your light!"

*Really now? Can't you do anything on your own...I even needed to destroy the palisade...well can't help it, I am just the strongest warrior in the world so everything is loaded onto my shoulders...*

----World POV----

The hero rushed into Suben and saw why his men needed him. 3 imperial soldiers were dead and another one heavily wounded. The enemy they faced was Beornfred, and the hero knew him all to well. The last time they fought was 2 years ago on the 'Battle of Summer'. The duel back then was a draw with both coming out of it with barely their lives. But Charles knew that he grew much stronger after this humiliation. He, who was said to be the reincarnation of Claudius himself, would kill this abomination.

"Long time not seen kid."

"Do you try to stall our grand battle by talking demon? Insolent fool!"

Light could be seen forming around his sword as he pointed it at Beornfred.

"BEGONE CREATURE!"

And with this sentence another ray of Light shot out from his sword. Beornfred had only a second to dodge it but he was to slow. He twisted his body so the Light would only hit his right arm. A cry of pain escaped his mouth as his arm vanished from existence.

----Lilith POV----

As I reached the river near our village, I heard a loud cry echoing through the forest.

*Dad?*

My panic and desperation only grew, as a realization hit me right in the face.

*The enemy is stronger than Dad?...I need to help him!*

I continued downwards the river's shore and witnessed a gruesome picture.

My brother's head lay directly in front of me. As is frantically searched for his body i heard another cry, but this time it was that of a female. I rushed there, only to find Luana, stabbed through the chest, with the sword still sticking in it, laying in her own blood while a human forced himself onto her. Her eyes were blankly looking at a puddle of blood, intestines and bones.

"STOP THIS YOU BASTARD!"

I shouted and let Mana flow into my hands. Fenrir behind me howled like a wolf at full moon. The human stood up, zipped his trousers and drew his sword out of Luana as she collapsed onto the ground.

"Another hideous creature I see, but your to young for my tastes, so I will just torture you until you beg me to kill you."

He ran up to me with his sword raised, so I used my infused fists to block his attack while Fenrir jumped at him. He nearly dodged my Warg's Teeth and took a few steps back.

----Beornfred POV----

The light that hit me continued to burn, even after it vaporized my arm, but I knew that staying defensive would lose me this fight, so I decided to up my speed by pumping all Mana reserves into my legs and feet. And then i began my suicide rush against the hero.

He looked quite surprised and didn't dodge me at all. So I rammed straight into him, tackling him to the ground and punching him with my remaining arm.

After my arm was cut off, my love finally joined the fight, killing soldiers left, right and center, and preventing them from saving their hero.

----Charles POV----

*FUCK*

*How had he done it? Why was he so fast?*

I lay on the ground as this abomination hit me over and over again while pinning me down with his weight.

*How do I escape this?*

My eyes frantically searched around for someone to help me, but the soldiers got attacked by a demon woman. I grew more and more desperate but then the opportunity came as the woman stepped right in line with the direction my sword was pointing at.

I let all my remaining Mana flow into the sword for one final 'Ray of the Shining Sun'
