Due to the planned use of four steam turbine propulsion units similar to the HMS Dreadnought, along with 18 drum-type coal-fired steam boilers, the Sovereign-class battleship's speed is not much different from that of the Dreadnought. The maximum estimated speed is also expected to reach 21 knots.

In terms of armor protection, the Sovereign-class battleship adopts the armor protection system of the Nassau-class battleship.
