Chapter eight

I was sitting in some canteen of the building where the meeting was held.

I was thinking about the meeting, not that who's gonna approach it. I was thinking what Aaron was saying?

Always?? What the hell did he mean by that?? I don't think about someone's life?? Bullshit.

I wanted to know what he was taunting me about. It was clear in his words that he was talking something else.

Something unrelated to this topic.

Whose life did I take??

I really want to know damn.

He can't just taunt me like that.

In the meeting when he was using those kiddish indirect words I wanted to grab his collar and ask him the reason.

But Jesus, I couldn't do it. It wasn't the right place.

My chain of thoughts were disturbed when I saw him.

This. This is the right place. He has to answer my questions I thought and moved towards him.

"What were you talking about?" I asked him.

He was sitting on a table and was drinking coffee.

He raised an eyebrow questioning me.

"Don't act innocent Aaron, what were you taunting me for?" I asked very furiously.

"How many sins are you going to take with yourself to hell?" He asked.

"What?" I asked.

I was confused. Has he lost it? What the hell is he speaking.

"How many lives have you taken using your innocent face??" He asked as furious as me. But what for?

I was confused.

"Zero" I replied holding my chin up. He was really tall.

He crooked a smile. "One more sin added. Again a lie" he said.

"I ain't lying" I said gritting my teeth.

"Then what about Ma..." He stopped mid-sentenced.

He stood bewildered. His expressions were unreadable.

"What??" I yelled.

"Nothing" he said and left the place simply.

Freak. He just has nothing to say. That's why he's making stupid stories and is diverting my concentration.

I won't let him win.

I will approach this deal. I've no second option.

Aaron's POV:

"Zero" she replied holding her chin up.

Look how wisely you act innocent, Scarlett.

I crooked at her. "One more sin added. Again a lie" I said.

"I ain't lying" she replied gritting her teeth.

What the hell??

She killed my best friend and she's acting as if she didn't do anything. God knows how many guys has she killed like this.

"Then what about Ma..." I stopped. Shucks. She doesn't know that Marx and I were best friends.

"What?" She yelled.

I can't even afford to let her know about our friendship. But this stupid murderer is irritating me. She's really good at acting. I must say.

But telling her the truth is the last thing on the earth I want to do.

"Nothing" I replied and walked away.

I've to concentrate on the meeting. But Scarlett? How can she be so merciless?

I mean killing my friend wasn't enough for her that she now isn't thinking about the poor?

She doesn't deserve a happy life.

I wish I had proofs against her but to my fate I don't.

The meeting was gonna start within a few minutes. Oh god I wish Hayden's are some sensible people and they understand about the importance of a life, they understand a life is more precious than money, they understand what I was trying to say. I hope the deal is with us.

After a few minutes a blonde guy came and informed us to assemble in the meeting room.

Jesus. Finally.

We all went in the meeting room and sat on our respective chairs. When I turned to see everyone had an expectant look, like really?

Dude, you didn't utter a single word and you expect the deal to be on your side??

Life is full of idiots, I thought.

The guy who earlier headed the meeting, probably the CEO here, stood in front of us.

"It was a really hard decision though" he started "to choose between the two companies, and to think about changing our deal but after thinking hard we came to a decision that...."

I was nervous. Damn. I saw Scarlett's face and was amused by her expression. Being as cunning as a fox she still could look innocent, as innocent as a 2 year old.

"Aaron" said the CEO.

I was still looking at Scarlett. She pouted hearing my name. She looked so beautiful, so real doing that but none knows how cunning she is.

I turned towards the CEO.

"Aaron, your deal was the best among all" he said.

I know, right?

"But we can't afford to be at loss.

And as this step is purely for publicity we'd go with the cheap and best one, so the deal goes with Scarlett" he said.

I crooked a smile. Scarlett was correct. "None of us thinks for else but themselves" her words ran in my mind.

I looked at her. She had tears in her eyes. Typical girls. I thought then stood up, shook my hand with the CEO and left.

Why do I expect a good deed from this society? They don't give a damn to the ones in need unless they're profited. That's how the world works. The world doesn't work on humanity, it works on desires.

Anyway past can't be changed so let just it be.

I need some rest, I thought and drove back to my home.

When I reached home, dad came and asked

"Did you?"

I shook my head in a negative manner. He just patted my shoulder and said, "it's okay. Shit happens"

"The world is full of cruelty" I said him. My eyes, exhausted.

"This shouldn't be a disappointment. You should get used to it" he replied.

He was right.

But as our complete family, by the complete family I meant mom, dad and I all were involved in the same business company, I felt like I let them low by losing this deal.

But dad didn't look surprised, he probably knew that almost everyone in this society is mean.

He probably knew I'd lose because I thought for others.

That's why he didn't confront me.

I then went to my room and took a shower to get relieved. I came back to my room and laid on the bed.

Scarlett's pout was the first thing that came to my mind when I closed my eyes.

God. This angel-faced devil is getting on my nerves, I thought.

I was getting mesmerized by her beauty. If she wasn't my enemy, I'd have wanted to approach her since really long.

God. She indeed is beautiful. Very innocent, very intelligent, very attractive.

She was a perfect combination of everything a girl should have.

She was flawless.

But do you know what?

I hate her.

I hate her because she killed my best friend.

When I saw her for the first time (when Marx showed me her photo), I had a sudden attraction towards her. Though, I didn't say it to Marx, no sensible person would. But when I first saw her in the picture she was wearing a beautiful royal red gown, it was like a second skin till her waist showing her curves perfectly, and then it spread outwards forming an umbrella like thing after hugging her waist.

Her hair were set loose and in addition to such attractive figure she had a beautiful toothy smile on her face. It looked like a random click yet the most beautiful one.

Angel, was the first word that came to my mind when I saw her the first time.

But who knew this angel would turn into a disastrous devil and kill my best friend.

Marx was the luckiest-unlucky person I'd ever know.

I was full of such thoughts when the slumber of darkness occupied my mind.

Scarlett's POV:

We were all sitting on the chairs we earlier sat. I was really nervous. Oh god oh god please please don't disappoint me. I deserved to approach it.

I was praying restlessly.

"It was a really hard decision though" Mr. CEO started "to choose between the two companies, and to think about changing our deal, but after thinking hard we came to a decision that"

God please God please God please.

"Aaron" he said.

My mind became numb. Oh god, why?? Why do you do this to me god?? I worked so hard. So bad.

And is this the result??

Mom will kick me out of the company.

"Aaron, your deal was the best among all" said the CEO.

Oh no, it wasn't!!! I will start crying at any moment.

"But we can't afford to be at loss.

And as this step is purely for publicity we'd go with the cheap and best one, so the deal goes with Scarlett" he said.

A tear escaped from my eye, a tear of happiness, a tear of disbelief.

Aaron suddenly got up from his chair and left the hall.

Did I hear it correct? Did he say Scarlett??

I was..was..unexplainably happy.

I didn't know what to do.

Thanks god. Thanks god. Thanks god.

I love my fate.

"Come here, and sign these papers for the deal" CEO said.

"Okay" I got up.

All the representatives of their respective companies left after a handshake.

I read those papers quite carefully and signed it at last. One copy was handed to me and they kept one. After which I came back to home.

After coming, I searched mom all over my home but she wasn't there. Must be at work, I thought and went back to my room.

I jumped on my bed and called Jass.

"Hello? What's the result?" she asked.

"I did it" I said with a huge grin on my face.

"Omg. Omg. Omg. Are you serious?? You won as in Aaron lost?"

"Yes" I said with a triumphant smile.

"Did you tell it to aunt?" She asked.

"Not yet. I'll soon" I said.

"I need a huge treat. No no. I need a huge party" she said excited as hell.

"Sure" I smiled.

"Meet me soon" she said.

"Yeah" I said and hung up.

Life's so perfect.
