Beth was nothing when compared to Scarlet. Jack knew that much. Had Beth had money to her name, she might have been able to compete with Scarlet. If Scarlet had Beth's personality to tend to him, Jack knew Scarlet would have been the perfect woman.
Each woman had something that the other lacked.
Other than his child, Beth had nothing more to offer Jack. He could get another Beth easily by going to where he found this one. It was becoming more obvious that he only liked the excitement of fooling around with Beth. There was nothing now that their relationship was out in the open.
"I don't plan to keep you busy. I just wanted to see you for a moment. I shall leave," Beth said, turning around to make her exit.
